Who was in your opinion collecting social security disability fraudulently?
If the said person was able to paint house, work on the roof, build a 7ft wood fence, and hunt (in extreme weather I may add) several times a year.  If you can do all the above things I don't see why I(and the rest of you guys)have to foot the bill for this guy being lazy.

What sort of disability is he claiming?  Is it something that would be visible or could it be something such as defective heart or something you cannot see?

The guy claims to have hurt his back...Well if any of you have had a real back problem you know its not something you want to aggrivate by climbing on the roof or planting trees or building a fence...Think fence post...

It depends. This may sound unfair, but I would see if he was someone that I liked or not.

It just depends.  I have a hernieated disc in my back which prevents me from doing some of the things I love, watersking, golf, baskeball but it does not prevent me from doing things like working in the yard or on my house, provided I am careful in how I do it.  Just have to take it slow and easy sometimes.

Is he able to work all day? do you know if he is then in pain all nite? I do alot and have a bad L5-S1 disc but I pay for it. (pain wise)
I can work 2 hours maybe hard then I am flat on my back with Ice packs for the rest of the day/nite.
I know there are cheats out there but I would not. (Of course I haven't hunted maybe twice since I got hurt, but I am not on disablity either.)

My advice....just let it be.

well, if I didn't know the guy, didn't care for the guy.... I'd probably call it in anonymously.  Heck, I look at my paycheck stub every two weeks and see the large amounts that are taken out for taxes and SS and stuff, and that guy is where it goes.  He doesn't NEED it.   That's like cheating on worker's comp.  

Depends, did he genuinely injure his back?

Scenario ONE: He really did, but due to realities of life still has to do many things DESPITE his back injury.

Scenario TWO: He faked it and is just fine and collecting money illegally.

You have the obligation to find out for sure which is true BEFORE you do anything.

The guy could be loading up with pain killers all day long so he can do things around his house but can't be under the influence like that when on a real job. Besides, what would his place look like if he didn't do any work around it.

Find out more, he could still be cheating the system.

What really got me thinking about this was I stopped in to get a burger and this guy who is suppose to be enjoying his “golden years” is working the register…I start talking to him and long story short he has no choice but to work the register at Whataburger.  Anyway I stop by my parent to see how they are doing ect. ect.  And what do I see but my wonderful “disabled” neighbor out doing manual labor.  I stop and think if that older man can work, then so can this guy.  This guy used the system no doubt about it.  He took out that insurance that if you get hurt they pay the bills on his truck, home, and credit cards. Now imagine this a few months after the new truck and credit card charges went up to the limit…HUMMM now all the sudden he’s injured…He never was one to work a regular job (he would always worked a few month then nothing for 6 more you know the type).  OK by now your wondering how do I know this stuff…Well the jerk told me kind of a bragger(again you know the ones). was young (15-16) and never thought anything about it (except what a poor provider he was for his family) Well now I am older and wiser (hopefully) and it just bugs the heck out of me especially after seeing that guy today. My neighbor is half the age of this guy AND able bodied.  Why should he get to lounge on the sofa at home?

Maybe in his own way he is doing his part to destroy socialism...........

I have a strict agreement with the local community, the bank, the church, the police: I don't lend money, don't preach, don't go on no-knock raids, the bankers don't paint houses, the priest doesn't fix computers, and the cops don't walk the dogs in the park to lure in pretty girls. And the Social Security office doesn't rake or mow the lawn, so I don't go around and investigate in SS fraud. Their job.

In short: none of my business, ratting out your neighbors is an essential part of socialist societies.

Report it and let the administrator's work it out. I say this because he is stealing from you and everyone else who pays taxes. Regardless of whether it is SSI or workman's compensation. If he is legit, nothing will happen.

I can't believe how too many citizens are conditioned to think that the government's money is not ours, but someone elses. For those that fall into this trap set by the liberal Democrats, you need to take Rush Limbaugh's econ 101 course again.

If you are truely in support of the 2nd amendment being the right of the people, you will have to universally believe that our government is "of the people, for the people". This will have to be a core principle you own and act on.

Changing that slightly, it's up to the FBI to detect suspicious activity I see at the local water resevoir, etc.  Nobody should report ANY crime?  That's a stretch.

Tough call, I wouldn't want nosy neighbors calling in what they percieve as weapon violations (they would be wrong), but the guy is stealing from every one of us, he's committing a moral wrong, nothing socialist about reporting that.

Yes what he is doing may be (and again you may not know all the circumstances) morally wrong. But I'm not big on nosing in other peoples business, and I'm certainly not big on "reporting" people to the government.

I mean this isn't a kind of scenario where you may be preventing terrorism, or there's child abuse next door.  

That is indeed quite a stretch and not at all what I said. The question was "should I rat out ^H^H^H^H report my neighbor?" not "Should I, by all means, never report any crime to the cops?"

I have a friend that got rear ended in Houston by a drunk doctor. He was messed up pretty bad behind this wreck. Broken back was the worst of it. They cobbled him back together as best as they could and he went on disability. About two years later he was going to court for an insurance settlement and the companies lawyer submitted a video of my friend painting his house as evidence of his "faking it". The judge saw my friend kneel down very slowly and rickety, dab some paint on the roller, and pull his self up by holding onto the edge of the house. He hobbled over to the house and painted. This went on for a while. The judge asked the lawyer if this was his evidence for or against my friend. He saw a man hurting very bad but trying to get around. Judgement for the plaintiff.

Mind your own business ,he's not hurting you or anyone ,he might be helping his whole family out for all you know,if he was dealing crack i would tell you to turn him in ,but he's just getting along the best he can,and you never know what your future holds and what you might have to do to get along in this world.
Besides the guy might be really hurt and taking pain killers for all you know and they might cancel his check because you call.

I think I would leave him be, even if they took him off SSI they would not reduce the amount we pay. If he is that far out of line, he will slip up, or someone else will eventually turn him in.
