Link to craigslist ad.  Assuming it's mechanically sound and rust free, what would be a fair offer if $3500 is too much?

Absolutely not. It's a 91 with over 200k miles. You can probably find something 10-15 years newer with less miles for that kind of $.
Fwiw, I had an 88 civic 5 sp and it had 124k ish miles on it and I bought it for $600. It wasn't in as good of shape as the one your looking at. However, that's a lot of money for that car.

Also...
IN before the "hondas will run for forever" crowd.
They still can't deny that's a lot of $ for that car.

I would say absolute highest would be 2k on that car. At $3500 your paying for the stereo system, wheels, and paint job the previous owner put on it.

Looks nice , but I would not pay that much for it. Guy down the road had one that was pretty clean for $2200 and it had 160k on it.

My 97 civic was still running strong before my stepdaughter wrapped it around a tree.

Thanks for the info, looks like I'll pass unless I can get a better price. I just found a '99 Civic hatchback with 168,000 miles listed for $2800.

I just started looking for cars today. My truck needs a new engine and the shop where it's at said it would be over $7,000 to fix it. So, I'm weighing my options. Trying to find a replacement for the time being and figure out how to get my truck fixed for less.

I sold my 89 about 4 years ago for $500.

It was my car through high school and college, and was in nowhere as good of shape as that.

I'd say it's a little high, but older somewhat rare Hondas are becoming collectible.

I'll sell you a 2004 Crossfire for $3500

Maybe if it was an SI and it was completely stock.  For this particular car maybe $1500-1800

It is becoming harder and harder to find these cars in good shape and not rusted out.

For a non-Si no, not worth it.  It does look very clean though and CRX's hold a special place in my heart.  I've had 2 of them and my wife actually bought my first one when we met.  They are no doubt one of the funnest cars you can drive.

That doesn't have much to do with the value of a CRX with a decent body.

You would be shocked at what a low (100k mile) 91 Si in Barbados Yellow would sell for, they're already modern classics and with so many eaten up by general use,accidents,ricers...their values are rising.

A relative of mine paid over $2000 for an 89 CRX with 200k+ miles. It was a hunk of junk. Most of these have been racers at one point or another and are not in good condition.

I ended up selling the car for him for $600.

Oh and I forgot, this was after he spent over $1000 on repairs on it and it still didn't run right.

Parts for Hondas are so overpriced so I wouldn't buy it.  Everyone I know that has bought a Honda has regretted it.z
