If you could only stock one type of AK ammo, do you think this would be good enough for SHTF?
Link for phones that, like, totally don't even. TulAmmo 124 gr soft point fired from 16" SAR-1 into calibrated 10% gelatin. BB: 597.1 fps, 3.4" Impact velocity: 2,526 fps Penetration: 11.3" Retained weight: 89.9 gr Max expansion: 0.809" Min expansion: 0.514" The penetration is a little shallow, but it ought to increase as range increases and velocity decreases. |
|
How do you figure for longer ranges it will get better penetration?
|
|
Lol. It's hard to go wrong with anything in 7.62x39.
Even though that's 11" deep, the hole is probably big around as a volleyball. |
|
If the S hits the F, I'm probably not going to have many "fun range days" anymore. The AKs will likely be sold/bartered with the rest of the toys, and whoever ends up with them can worry about ammo.
|
|
No. If I can't stockpile the latest and greatest whizbang, godzillakillin' ammo, I'll just put my AK back in the trashcan, find myself a hole to crawl into, and hide.

It would work fine.
I'm more partial to 5.56 AR's but that setup in the video would be fine. |

"Will take meat off the bone, MEAT OFF THE BONE."
Looks pretty effective. |

If given a choice I'd prefer Golden Tiger FMJBT. Some AK's don't like feeding SP or HP ammo. YMMV

I've got crate of that brass cased Yugo M67 that keep for such eventualities.

I've seen enough cartel shoot out videos to see Tula works fine, but I'd prefer Yugo M67 or Golden Tiger.
I love my SAR-1, BTW. |

This thats the 1st time I've seen an intermediate round actually blow a chunk of the gel block off. assuming thats not false reading on the chrono thats 1757 lbs of energy. |

I sure the cannibal horde will scoff at tula and continue the charge. WMC will have them running for the hills.

I actually do not, although if I did, it'd be suppressed and 8" barrel, which I can't really do too well in a 7.62x39 weapon. |
|
I'd have to get an AK first, but once I had one, sure, why not.
I really have no clue about AK ammo, but any ammo is more gooder than no ammo |

Dude, if they see you loading up a mag full of Wolf, they're just going to laugh at you and give you the finger.

My magazines and drums are full of tula goodness. I would use it for SHTF in a heartbeat.

Scooter, if they see you loading a mag, you already lost. And frankly, the AK, shooting steel cased ammo from those factories, have killed the majority killed by small arms in the second half of the twentieth century. |

Trashcan was my vote. 7.62x39? lol, no Do you own a .300 Blackout? I actually do not, although if I did, it'd be suppressed and 8" barrel, which I can't really do too well in a 7.62x39 weapon. Sure you can. The only advantage of .300 Blackout is the .223 parent case lets it work with standard AR parts. |
