Ignorance is NOT bliss. I'm trying to illustrate why I like my wife's "deer rifle" so much and I want to post a pic of the sight-in target from Sunday. I d'loaded Irfanview just to resize this danged thing and I cannot figure it out. Before I get my "fixit hammer" out, can someone please resize this so it fits the photo server (<150,000 whatever bits)?

I'll have to e-mail it to you I guess. Thanks--and sorry to be a PITA.

Okay--thanks for that, but I still can't get it. I d'loaded the first one, did the right click, then clicked on "small" and it created a new icon on my desktop. The bytes thing was still over 750,000--which was MUCH better than 6 MILLION.

I tried to resize that one and it only went down to 650,000 or so. What am I doing wrong?

Change the size - I like 600 x 800 for on screen stuff

Change the quality - down grade it a bit

change the format - .gif are big, .jpg work better

Must be a uncompress file format.

Open the picture in Windows Paint and "save as" a .jpg file.

Using Irfanview, click Image > Resize/Resample. Set a new size by percentage.

Done.

That's what I did but it made it so tiny it was just a dot. I tried reducing it by 50%, then enlarging it, etc. and that just made it really poor quality--and still too many bytes.

Uh-uh--you misunderstood. I sent you the one I had already resized from 650,000,000 bytes down to 750,000 bytes--which is still well over the 150,000 allowable--and I couldn't get it any smaller.

ETA: White_Horse, I just referenced your wife shooting our .50 BMG rifle in a thread yesterday. Good to see you posting! Hi to you and her.

Thanks to all who have sent IMs offering to resize--I got about ten of them so I'll send it to the first one who offered. Hopefully I'll get it handled soon. I'm such a dope sometimes.

Scanned the full scanner bed, didn't you?

Huh? That's how you sight-in a hunting rifle. It's perfect for her. Normally you place your POI at 2" high which makes it dead-on at 50 yds. and 200 yds. and 8" low at 300. She will never have a shot beyond 150 (and that's unlikely) so 1 1/4" high at 100 is perfect.

There's a different way? I just plopped it on the scanner thingy and hit "Scan" in the direction box. I had a heckuva time finding the file after I scanned it--then things went downhill from there.

Thanks--only two shots cuz I was just checking the sight-in, not shooting groups.

Selecting only the portion of the bed you want to scan will yield results similair to this, only clearer.

Check your scanner book for 'selecting area' or somesuch. Size 70kb.
