Nope.  He was responsible for creating the requirement that OC firearms in CA must be UNLOADED.

It is true and it would be a big problem here.

The GOP had to rewrite their checklist a few years ago when they realized Reagan wouldn't qualify.

And the GOP isn't conservative enough for ARFCOM.

So pretty much, no fucking way.

ARFCOM? There'd be a ten page thread of argument, and many people would threaten to stay home on election day since Reagan isn't perfect. Hell, he was once a Democrat.

What's not to love?

Arfcom is thrilled if they're lucky enough to get two out of three of those in an election.

I voted for him.
It sure as fuck wasn't going to be Carter/Mondale.
But after eight years I was tired of him.

His platform didn't include legalizing dope so that would have alienated a lot of the dopers here.

Never got the chance of voting for him. Too young.

Although I do have an autographed picture of him that the White House sent me (actually, two of them).

I remember reading Disney comic books about how we were running out of oil and wouldn't have enough energy, and noticed how the food prices kept going up every week.   Oh yeah, and bunch of pissants captured our people and the government couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it. Even as a 6 year old I knew how crappy things were under Carter.

Then you are an idiot don't know Arfcom or don't know history which is it?

In 79 the big issue was the Iran Hostage Crisis Operation Eagle Claw Carter's attempt to rescue them was a disaster mostly because of bad luck and Carter's inability to keep to one decision.  We were in a recession and Regan was anti hippy had been anti hippy since 65 and we were int he Cold War Arfcom has no love for the reds.

Reagan would have been supported here, Nixon would have been supported here too.  The only person who would have gotten more support is Goldwater

No, the OP question is about the year before, and that primary.  I think the Al Haig post above is probably correct.  Reagan did not bulldoze over Bush in the primaries, iirc.

No question in the Generl Elections who would of been supported here.

I was too young to vote, but worked in the Republican HQ for my town that year, and got to watch Carter's concession speech from there.
