But really you can track a hurricane and it does move quite slow to allow you to get out of it's path. No disputing it's power though. I would think the worst natural disaster would have to be one that comes out of nowhere, an earthquake or a tornado.

Water related weather events kill more people annually than any other natural phenomenon!
Floods, monsoons, etc.

Eric, already said it flooding is definitely the worst.
A monsoon several years ago hit India and it killed over 10,000 people, and to think we go crazy when 10 people are killed in a hurricane.

I vote for the earthquake. It's capable of multiple damage causing problems.
It can cause the ground to shake to shambles and anything standing on it; It can cause a volcano to finally blow its top; It can cause great tidal waves; It can cause fires indirectly from the other problems.
Pretty good for one disaster...

SUPER-Volcano... like the one under Jellystone

Before I knew of the Super Volcanoes I would have said Tornadoes or Earthquakes. But with that Super under YellowStone, I know that the penultimate disaster will be that one. Dwarfing everything in the past by several thousand orders of magnitude.

well I don't know if you would consider it on your "natural" disaster list, but I would consider viruses as the worst. Just looking at the 1918 flu epidemic, 21 million people died. Who knows what deadly virus is around the corner waiting to strike.

To be bad for sure but our sun won't achieve such a feat. Still gonna do us in, just not as spectacularly.

Well, I live in Southern CA so wild fire, earthquake, and tsunamis are some of the things I have to worry about.
