I know it has premiered in a few places already and I have heard some reviews (mixed) but does anyone have a REAL opinion of the movie yet?

Come on, someone has to have seen it by now.....

I am going to see it tonight or tomorrow. I can't wait

Saw it this morning.

I went in with really low expectations because of all the re-writes/re-edits but I was pleasantly surprised.

If you go in not comparing it to the book I think you will walk away happy.

The third act seemed a bit far fetched but I appreciated the originality of it.

Also it was fun catching all the Zombie Video Game references in the movie.

I caught:

I was at the 10:30 AM show and it was sold out. The last time I saw a Zombie movie on opening day weekend was Dawn of the Dead (2004) and there were about a dozen people in the theater. It's kind of crazy how much the zombie genre has caught on.

/edit: my one major complaint would be the PG rating. There is one scene that was obviously cropped to guarantee the PG.

WTF a pg horror film I think makes it stand on one leg alone. I guess I will see once it is on blu ray.

I'll wait for the blue ray.
Online preview reviews were mostly negative, but reviews of the finished movies (so far) are mostly "eh, not bad".Still, I'll put my faith in arfcom's zombie forum members for a proper review.

I just got back from the afternoon showing.   I thought it was excellent.  Definitely not the book version but very well done.  I will surely buy it

Just got back from seeing it in the UK. Saw it in 3D, wish I saw it in 2D but it wasn't showing in 2D. Thought it was rather good. Exciting from beginning to end. I liked it better than the book but as everyone else pointed out, it was very different.

I saw it a few hours ago and I concur. Do not compare it to the book, it shares a title and that's about it.

I said I wasn't going to go see it in the theater but I did anyway.  As others have said, it's nothing like the book.  I really liked the book.  The movie was alright.  I'm guessing they may make a sequel.  I just can't believe how different it was from the book.

Saw it tonight. Way to much talk & medical stuff.

Not enough bullets, grenades & nukes getting slung around.

I give it 2 "Meh" zombie faces

What kind of movie do you like?

Do you want all action, no plot, random blood and gore, etc etc? Don't go see it.

Do you want decent acting, a nifty plot twist, and some pretty legit action scenese? See it.

I thought it was really good, and I'm a zombie movie buff. It doesn't follow the novel, but it stands on it's own within the same world. ((I don't know how a movie could follow the book... Just sayin.))

Final Thought: Fuck Fast Zombies.... I'd just off myself in that sort of ZPoc.

Saw it with my daughter last night and we liked it. Also nice to see that it was PG-13, not many movies can take kids to anymore, most have so much unnecessary nudity & foul language now days.

Sure beats the majority of Z flicks coming out, I cant watch the chiller / sci fi channel crap.

Funny to me that some complain about unrealistic plots etc, this is a ZOMBIE movie you know.

Nope, I read the book & enjoyed it, watched the movie & enjoyed it, the only thing the 2 have in common is the title.

I saw it this evening, it was alright I guess.
I prefer the walking dead.
I did however like the scene where he was in the lab and the zombie was at the door clicking his teeth, that was funny.

Good movie. Sort of  similar to 28 days later but in America. Worth buying when it comes out on BluRay.

I enjoyed it.

It had some unnecessary characters, and several scenes where people felt shoved into the camera for exposition. I was really hoping for at least some more "Blackhawk Down" style battles in major US cities, but perhaps in the sequel.

It's a terrible shame it was shot for PG13, and I hope the Director's Cut is more over-the-top, like with Dawn of the Dead 04. On that note, there were several homages (or perhaps rip offs) that enjoyed. The opening bedroom scene where the girl pushes open the door was obvious harkening back to Dawn 04. The run to the top of the apartment was right out of 28 Days Later.

SPOILERS BELOW

The pacing of the movie seemed a little off, too. The first half is edge of your seat action, but the WHO Center was all just suspense. They needed a few disposable security guards to make for a nice fight. The movie felt like it kind of just slowed down then stopped. It didn't feel like an ending, but perhaps that is in anticipation for a sequel.

Liked the book, liked the movie.

I definitely think the ending was wrong, the one they originally used seems like it would have been much better and overall completed the movie a whole lot better

I'm not sure it deserves a sequel but making 3 movies was their intention all along.  Rolling Stone says the sequel is already in the works.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I was a huge fan of the book and the other Brooks books Zombie Survival Guide and Recorded Attacks.  The movie seems like it was a story set within the world of the books and maintains a sort of "collective story" feel like you had in the World War Z novel.  Pretty intense film.  Only complaint I had was the ending sort of petered off but could set up well for a sequel.

SPOIlER BELOW

I REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME
There's really no big zombie battle scene. The original film ended with a big battle in Moscow where Brad Pitts character stays to lead the underground in the war against the undead. The stuidio however didn't like the ending as he didn't go back to his family. Soooo they reshot it and that's what we got, no big battle scene

Think a lot of people went into it expecting something different, sort of like I did with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. If you went in expecting the book you were bound to be disappointed. If you were just looking for an entertaining movie you got it. It did pretty well at the box office

Terribly disappointing.

Exactly what I would expect Hollywood to come up with in a "big budget" zombie movie. Requires the utter suspension of common sense, let alone disbelief.

it was ok; I give it 2.5 brains...

zombies did not look scary, and they moved too fast
I wanted to see more of society breaking down; it happened too fast

I liked it. I thought the first half was excellent. Then it started going down hill from there. For me there wasn't enough gun wielding and melee action. They should have made it rated R too.

I have totally had to re-evaluate my zombie preparations.  I think a tank will do.

SPOILER ALERT

FOR REAL

What is the deal with Gerry getting blood in his mouth and not getting infected?  That should have been explained in the movie, IMO.

Saw the movie today, overall it was entertaining. It is rare that I go to the movies, so I pampered myself. Went to see it at one of the casinos which have stadium seating theaters and a Fatburger next to the theater in the food court!!! So I had my a burger, got a popcorn and water, and walked into an almost empty theater for a enjoyable experience.
As for the movie I enjoyed until it the third act, which was a little drawn out and anti climatic. Really enjoyed the Camp Humphries segment, learned a valuable lesson about giving firearms to untrained people
Give it 3 1/2 out of 5 five.

I stopped going to movies. I will catch them on HBO. I know it still supports those libtards in Hollywood, but the don't get any where the money.

I say screw them as much as I can, while still getting the entertainment that they provide.  I like movies, but I don't mind the wait.

I rather enjoyed the book.  I enjoyed this movie as well.  It was better than I expected but then again I expected it to be pretty bad.
The only similarities the movie has to the book is Israel locking itself down.

I really think HBO should do a WWZ series.  With an episode or two for each short survivor tale.  I think it would really work great that way.
