My parents came up this weekend to have early Christmas with my wife and I. My Dad built me a target stand. The targets themselves are built out of T-1 steel. The legs are 3/8" flat bar and are pinned open. This thing takes two people to move well without hitting things. My dada doesn't think it will hold up to a .223 round but definitely hold up to pistol and .22lr. Here are the pics:

Man, that's neat!

Would your Dad like to adopt me? [:D]

Cool gift. Why doesn't your dad think it will stand up to a .223?

Your dad is right. T1 steel won't hold up under .223 loads, as it is rated for standard pistol loads. T520 alloy would be nice for rifle rounds, but T1 (especially if it is 3/8" thick), will behave like butter with .223.

Probably not, but I bet if you ask real nice he might consider buiding a few more....for a price of course.

1911ar-15, I have never heard of T520 steel. I take it that is much harder than T1. I thought T1 was some of the hardest steel around. Do you think that even with some of those pices being an inch thick or better of T1 that a .223 round will still go through the steel?

Yes I was very thankful. My wife wasn't quite as thankful as she knew it meant more time spent shooting wich equals more $$$$ spent on ammo. He liked how it turned out so well that he mentioned buiding me a dualing tree next year.
