I grew up in Amish country here in southeast OH. I've got a few friends who are amish and I've driven their buggies before too. I know of a few Amish that have been in accidents with their buggies. One Amish guy I know told me about a car/buggy crash that killed all that were on the buggy and he was related to that family. last year a couple of the amish boys around here got caught by the sherrif for drinkin' and drivin' their buggies!! - bricklayer

If the cops stop you while you are walking on the street they cannot demand to see your driver's liscense or other identification, IIRC. Kharn

My grandpa's brother was killed while driving a team to town in the '20's. The horses got spooked and bolted. I'm not sure of what all happened, but Uncle Frank fell under the wagon wheels. This happened some 10 yrs. before mom was born even. I suppose it happened more often than we think.
