Women Robbed, Groped In Broad Ripple
Police Remind Revelers To Carry Only Bare Essentials

INDIANAPOLIS –– Thieves are roaming the streets in Broad Ripple, targeting unsuspecting revelers in one of the city's most popular nightspots.
Jennifer Burt and her friend, Heather Grubar, were walking home, a couple of blocks away, at about 2 a.m. on Monday, 6News' Rick Hightower reported.
They had walked about a block and had stopped to talk to a friend when two gunmen approached.
"They said, 'Get down. Do what we say, or we're going to kill you,'" Burt said. "Immediately, I got on the ground … and my friend, Heather, got a pistol over the head."
The robbers took iPhones, credit cards, purses, Burt's passport and about $1,000 cash from the three victims. Police said there is no good reason to carry that much cash.
"Carry the bare essentials, a little bit of cash, a credit card, a driver's license," said Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson. "A cell phone is OK, but a passport is very difficult to replace."
The suspects said they were humiliated even more when the suspects groped them while on the ground.
"They wanted to get it done as fast as possible, but it's almost like they went out of their way to do that just to be jerks," Burt said.
The women said the bad experience won't keep them from going back to Broad Ripple, but they won't carry as much money and belongings.
Police are looking for the suspects, both black males and both with silver-plated pistols.
