Woman Charged with Leaving Cats in Hot Car and Going Shopping

(Mandeville, LA) -- A Madisonville woman faces more than a dozen counts of animal cruelty. She allegedly left 16 cats inside a hot car in Mandeville. Detective say 56-year-old Rita Bridges was under investigation for abusing the animals at her home and apparently put them in the locked car to avoid authorities. The cats are getting treatment for the excessive heat. Bridges was booked into jail on 16 counts of animal cruelty.
