They come over to Arfcom and get educated on firearms and survival?
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:40:19 PM EST
No, they will assume they already know everything and buy bb guns and airsoft for home defense.
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:40:45 PM EST
Nope. They will continue on their delusional path forever.
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:41:31 PM EST
More than a couple are already here....
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:44:26 PM EST
They only come here to troll.
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:46:35 PM EST
You're already here
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 10:47:17 PM EST
They will get this.
Pepper spray paintball gun.

Highly unlikely. It's antithetical to their beliefs. The whole survivalist thing is based around self reliance.
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 11:07:44 PM EST
Wouldn't it be funny, if they all came over to learn about guns, because they wanted to be "teh revolutionaryz", and ended up liking guns so much they turned Republican and pro 2a?

Make Democrats Republican Again

Not a chance in hell.  That would mean they have to come out of their safe spaces and actually use logic while learning their opinions mean nothing to anyone.

No FEMA Sub-Forum here....

They'll just get squirt guns and fill them with their liberal tears.
Link Posted: 12/19/2016 11:53:40 PM EST
IDK, they had one guy over there that already had 3 dozen 12 G shells.

Rape whistles, and keeping their bladders on a "more ready to pee" status. That's what they'll do as we just try to go about our daily lives.

Hit the nail on the head with that pic/rebuttal. Those pot growers are the epitome of this topic.

Doubt it.

I don't go to DU. But I thought there were references to them having their own gun subforum; undoubtedly to discuss gun control. Maybe they might repurpose it for self defense. Who knows?

A great many Democrats own firearms and are pro second. DU did a poll a few years back and something like 60% of those posting on DU opposed additional gun control. Right now the fringe leftist culture warriors control the narrative and they will do whatever it takes to shout down and ban anyone who disagrees in even the slightest way. That's their thing.

Go read some of the Reddit socialist and communist subreddits. Some of them not only have guns but look as well equipped as some of us, and go to survival and carbine classes and whatnot. I wouldn't judge all of them based on DU. DU is incredibly tame actually.

I don't do Reddit, but I've been saying this for a long time. Interest in guns and conservatism don't necessarily go hand in hand. The really hard leftists want to be armed for the sake of "revolution." Gun controllers, on the other hand, tend to be namby-pamby suburbanites and lukewarm, do-gooder "liberals."

LOL, they'll buy swords because they never run out of ammo. Guns are loud and evil.

No.

They don't really have it in them, and even if they did they couldn't stand the constant challenges to their orthodoxy.
Link Posted: 12/20/2016 2:12:27 PM EST
They do have a little "outdoors" subforum were they talk about guns (hunting and SD).

I really wish more of them would buy guns. I want them to have quick access to them by the time of Trump's inauguration, and the next few years...
Link Posted: 12/20/2016 2:19:08 PM EST
I know plenty of progressives that use firearms. But they won't try to train themselves. The only reason they'd ever come around any of us for something gun related, is if one of us is going to the range, and they want to come with and scam some ammo off us. They already think they know everything they need to know. Because they think they are smarter than anyone else, they live by a different set of rules. Gun laws and safety practices don't apply to them, because they think they know what they are doing. And when they do have an accident, it's the other guy's fault, or the freaking gun.

A few years ago, a liberal (college student in the sixties, got involved in the movement back then) asked me to teach her how to shoot and help her pick out a gun to buy, after she retired and was home during the day to see how her neighborhood had gone downhill. She refused to consider any long guns, so we went through the handguns I had, explaining the differences in each one, safety, and firing each one, saving the revolver for last. Once she fired the revolver (six inch .357, loaded with 130gr .38spcl), she was set on that, because "there's less to have to remember". Went to the gun store with her, and she bought a four inch Ruger GP100 and some frangible loads, along with a box of practice ammo.

After that, she would occasionally launch into a rant because some moron online was accusing her of being a conservative republican, after she disagreed with them about gun control. She still thinks that anybody carrying a gun should have some sort of training and a permit, but she thinks "assault weapon" restrictions are stupid and she goes back and forth on the background check requirement for purchase (she accepts that criminals are going to find a way around it, and that the mentally ill generally do not have their records available for the check, but she thinks it would be better to make those records available, than to completely do away with the background check). After the local news media got on a campaign to shut down gun shows, she asked me to take her to a gun show, so she could see one firsthand for herself. After that, she argued with people online that the stuff they were claiming happened at gun shows, didn't happen there, and that they should go to one and see for themselves, instead of talking about something they obviously knew nothing about.

Not a full blown second amendment supporter, but she's not afraid to tear into a liberal and go into detail about how much of a moron they are for their statements about gun control.

Fast forward to last month, and she made a few comments about how Trump's victory had emboldened white supremacists. Then she mentioned that she was thinking about getting a carry permit. I had told her, after she bought the GP100, that it would be a good idea to check with one of the local ranges for classes, so that a certified instructor could give her some better instruction than I had, but I never asked if she had followed through on that. About three weeks ago, she asked me to take her to a gun show to look for "something lighter, for carry". I suggested looking at a snubnose Ruger SP101, since the controls were identical to her GP100, but after picking one up at the show, she said it was still too heavy (pointing out that semi-autos open up a lot more options for light and compact, just got a "too complicated" reply). The dealer had a Ruger LCR on the table, and she picked that one, due to the weight (I warned her that it would kick harder).

The following weekend, she was using my target stand to "see if she could still shoot well enough to get the permit". We went over the safety stuff, again, and what she had to do for the range qualification portion of getting the permit. After going through about half a box of ammo, she commented that this was harder than she remembered it being (if she followed my advice about going to a range for training, she apparently didn't go more than once). She's going to need more practice, if she wants to start the process of getting the permit.

Of the liberals that get scared by Trump's win and start looking at buying guns, some will buy guns. A smaller number will look into getting a carry permit. An even smaller number will venture into what we would consider an 'avid gun owner'. But all of them should at least learn a little of the truth about gun control, from the experience.

Yeah, but those Democrats are the blue collar Union types, not the emotionally fragile far left Marxist pajama boy types, which is who hangs out at DU.

Not a bad idea. Hey mods, can we get a "Special Snowflake Liberal" sub-forum? Why do I have to go all the way over to DU to laugh at idiots?

If they could get educated and think analytically enough to arrive here...

They wouldn't be democrats in the first place.

So... No.

Hopefully not. Guns and liberals don't mix well.
