I am having a problem that has me stumped.

My desktop (windows 7) is connected to my TV via a DVI to HDMI cable.  Everything works fine until I change to input (to watch direct tv etc) and try to change back and the screen is blank.  I can remedy this by disconnecting/reconnecting the HDMI cable, but have not been able to find any other solution.

It seems like the computer stops detecting a monitor when I change the TV input source and then "forgets" about it.  I have tried all that I can think of:  changing the power saving settings, updating drivers etc.

The most frustrating part is that I fixed this exact same problem last September and cannot remember how.

Anybody have any ideas?

I don't "know" the answer to this, but I'm wondering whether doing the following would fix things.

If you connected your computer to the HDMI TV set through an active HDMI switchbox, would the computer continue to see a valid HDMI connection even though the TV itself was switched to a different input source?
