Can anyone help me with changing the order that these "background" programs start up ? Specifically, I want my wireless network card to start up and connect BEFORE my MSN Messenger program does. I even tried a clean re-install of Windows, but Messenger still loads first. Help !!!

Just set messenger to not run at startup

+1

You can create dependecies on system services.... but applications are a little tougher. Since your wireless connection depends on an application to connect (as opposed to XP, built into the OS services) then you are likely screwed. You can re-arrange them in the registry, however, they do not wait for one systray app to complete initialization before going onto the next one. Best solution is to configure your messenger not to start automatically.... and just put a shortcut on your desktop to kick it off, after your wireless has connected.
