I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

Get the Jeep.

YOu know it. An old computer for anything with a new motor in it is worth the trade. Even it it is a metro. The old Willy's rule.

Unless it was one of those postal service jobs, AFAIK all Willy's were made in 4x4.

Willys Jeep with a new motor vs old computer Go for it..no brainer option

With a freshly built motor and a few aftermarket goodies, a Willy's makes a great trail machine.

Hit it.

Go for it but don't look too anxious or he's liable to catch on that he's getting the short end of the deal.

They make aluminum and fiberglass bodies for CJ-5s. You might be able to find one for the old willies.

Most were. Just gives you more space to work on it. They are relativley light so you don't need a whole ton of power. They are also geared for pulling power not speed.

I'd go for it. I had a 49. It would walk up a tree and was built like a tank.

get the jeep

What year and model? Describe the body. Flathead or F head motor?

Any way you look at it its well worth it. If its a military your doing even better. Don't trust the titles or his descritpion to be right however, it seems you run into more jeeps that folks claim are military than seals at a gun show, and titles were routinley swapped around when folks got new Jeeps and kept the old registration (hell, a 42 looks juts like a 52 to 99% of the folks anymore).

I collect military jeeps. It is a sickness.

My 43 Ford GPW at an airshow a few years ago.

That would make a VERY GOOD SHTF escape/zombee ramming vehicle. I'd eat that up in a heartbeat.

Get the Jeep. It'll improve your shooting and make you better looking.
You'll be able to get back into better locations for shooting
and hunting.

If you pass on this...I have a 1 yr old computer I would be willing to trade for it. Hell, I'd buy him a NEW computer just to make the trade!

Have you actually seen it? the biggest problem with old Jeeps is rust. If the body and frame are pretty solid, even if beat up, it's probably a great deal. If it's got a terminal case of cancerous rust it may be more trouble than it's worth. That being said, if I had a couple year old computer system that I wasn't using or could stand replacing with a new one anyhow I'd probably be all over that deal. Your old system is practically worthless and the Willy's should likely bring at least some fun after the minimal effort a brake job requires.

The little 4 cylinders that came in the old Jeeps are pretty anemic but reliable and with the really low axle gearing they can do pretty well offroad. Just don't expect to cruise down the Interstate at 70mph.

Another problem with old Jeeps is that they are infectious and addictive. Seems once you take a liking to them you just can't seem to get them out of your system.

Good luck with your decision. Sounds like it wouldn't be a difficult one for most of us.

I would get the Jepp. Does he maybe want an old IBM machine?

It is at times like this that I wish that I:
1.Had a digital camera(and new how to use it)
2.Understood how to post images on the internet.

Yes......Willys are cool.Is it a Willys or an American Motors or none of above?
The year?
Willys Jeeps are like old Harley Davidson motercycles in that they are a slice of American History that will never return.

Oh......and get the jeep.....Fuck the computer.

Uncle had an early 50's it was great off road. On road top cruising speed maybe 55.

Keep your computer. Anyone that has to go online to ask the question doesn't deserve the jeep!

Seriously, get the jeep.

Good choice. One of the biggest mistakes I have made was selling my '48 CJ-2A.
