Only if me and my son can sneak off to sight in this super blackhawk I'm looking at for my brother. I don't shoot up in the air.

Should be fun to watch my skinny 19 yr old feel the recoil from a .44 magnum for the first time.

It's a hogleg, 10 inch barrel, with a Tasco scope....

I'm wondering what it's worth...it's in great shape.

I sure will!

And as said before, this is the Fourth of July, with lots of celebratory noisemaking, not Cinco De Mayo...we HAVE guns in THIS country! (I think that was the tone of Kar98's post and I echo that sentiment)

That being said, I shall of course add all the little safety thingies about not firing into the air, etc. etc...

WHEREVER I fire my celebratory shots, you can bet the projectiles will end up somewhere safe and my brass will be policed up. [;D]

And that being said, I'm headed off to shoot off some really COOL fireworks that DON'T leave casings...just paper!

No shooting on the 4th for me - unless it is at the range or in self-defense.

Somehow, I don't think the Plano Police Dept. likes it when you fire off shots from your firearm in an urban area. so my answer would have to be ummmm NO. However I will be celebrating in other ways.

well, i think firing into the air is stupid. we have had a few people hit with rounds fired in the air here in Phoenix in the last few years.
what goes up must come down. not very responsible gun handeling. like someone else said "know your target and whats behind it" you never know, might end up like the Afghani wedding party, firing as a USAF plane flies overhead and mistakes your celebratory fire as anti-aircraft fire.

Just got back from the range, where I did a little celebratory shooting with a newbie acquaintance.

Had a blast! No better way to start the fourth than a little target practice.

Think I turned the new guy on to the whole black rifle thing, too. He thought it was very entertaining. He kept grinning and saying "wow!".

He did ask me what that funny spring noise was.[:)]

Shooting into the air is just stupid. I don't hang around anyone that would do that. Hopefully that was not what araddict was asking.

They were shooting in the air and "mistaken" for hostile fire.

Those in So. Central L.A. might consider this.

In theory (not a recommendation) shotguns with birdshot should be relatively safe.  In fact here is an article on the subject.

John Adams on how to celebrate the 4th..

“"It ought to be commemorated as the Day of Deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward ever more."

John Adams, signer of the Declaration, and 2nd President of the United States.
