Since .50 calibers will soon be illigal in kalifornia do you think gun makers will make .499 calibers to cater to those poor kalifornie souls? It seems like and easy way to circumvent this stupid law.

THough I dont think comercially I think you will be surprised by what people can do. There have been talks of a shortened 50 bmg case with a smaller slug already, ie;.495-.499. I know for a fact there are people out ther making lots of wildcats based on a bmg case so making one that just sqeeks under would not be that big of a deal. Likely many conversions to the .408.
