This is the one about 2 guys going on a winetasting trip just before the wedding of one of them. It's pretty damned depressing. Nice portrait of a couple of empty, ugly lives.

Anybody else see it? What'd you think?

Thought it was hilarious six months ago, when I was personally rock bottom (and probably could relate). Looking back, the characters are pretty pathetic.

It was fun for me to watch because it showed my old hang out the Los Olivios cafe, good food, good wine.

I loved it.

wasted theatre time, wife and I hated it. 2 pathetic losers, 1 steals money from his mom and the other is a cheating dirtbag.

I rented it for her. Then she had to go to a last minute busness trip. I could only make it through the first half hour by myself before I gave up on it..I thought it was too much like real life. When she was able to watch it with me I finished it. I still think it was too much like real life to be entertaining. When are they going to make a movie that takes place in a laundromat and film people sorting their socks?

I thought Garden State was boring, at least Lowell from Wings gets the crap beaten out of him and gets the "O" face!

About Schmidt was much better, at least it had that nude scene with that sexy thang, Kathy Bates.. It reminded me of my Dad's empty life, but he wasn't as successful as Schmidt..

If anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!

I thought it was OK, but it was depressing just how shallow and immature the Jack ("Lowell") character was. I mean, come on, he's what about 40 and he's behaving like a college sophomore on spring break--and not even a decent college sophomore on spring break. I've known people like that, they don't grow up at the altar.

And the unhappy whining from the Miles character--for God's sake, grow a pair. Life sucks, try again...

I did think it was particularly funny in places, like when he tries to run the car into a tree with a brick on the pedal (or whatever it was). That was good.

I might watch it again, but it isn't one I'd go seek out any time soon.

Jim

p.s.--I did think the scene where Miles goes in for Jack's billfold. That scene right there describes the kind of fucked up shit that you end up doing for a good friend just because...

yeah that was funny when he went in for his friends wallet, he grabs and makes a run for it and the chunky girls husband runs out after him naked with his dick flopping around

A big +1. Two low achievers that keep whining about how things haven't worked out for them, but don't seem to have any involvement with the world other than to amue themselves.

Get a clue boys - personal satisfaction often comes by sacrificing for others. Do the right thing a few times and suddenly it seems you have friends (and a social life) everywhere you look.

Spoken like a Social Director Extraordinaire!

It was an ok movie. I wouldn't call hit hillarious, or a great movie. I would give it a 6 on a scale of 1-10
