Would it be possible to take Ceramic Rifle plates, bond two layers each a 1/4" thick with a CARBON_COMPOSITE/KEVLAR/CARBON_Composite Mesh BONDED Between the two plates??? Sowing a regular BDU LOWER LEG Piece to this with a zipper on the inside the zips up and the zipper itself at the utmost point clamps to the outside of a Knee pad.  Doing the same for the upper leg that zips downward and clamps to the same knee pad.  All zippers to the inside?? Do this for both legs, same setup for the arms the zippers snapping to the elbox pads. (you still have the mobility).  You could take the leg pieces and snap them to a waist belt or diaper looking aparatus and the arm plates could be velcroed to the edges of the Regular pre existing chest peice???  Just an idea. with all this talk of exoskeletons. The whole thing would be a system of CERAMIC CASTS???
