Any commander has the right to protect his ship yet ours are letting the Russians shit all over us, putting their ships at risk, and doing nothing except sharply worded complaints. This is what happens when you have a pussy as commander in Chief. They know if they shoot down the Ruskie pussy Obama will kill their career's, probably prosecute them, and apologize before all the world for all American hostile actions past and present. This is what happens when you get an America hating pussy as a President.

Id say it has something to do with WW3

But I agree with you the fact it is happening now is due to a weak government

It would be an act of war.

Because history teaches us that it is not a good idea to shoot at Russians unless you absolutely have to.

Did WW3 start when the Turks shot one down over a far less provocative action? Of course not, dont be silly. The Russians couldnt afford even a bush war and they sure as hell arent going to launch missiles over an airplane. They are not even in our class and yet we keep eating shit from them.

Turkey shot down a Russian plane. Is Russian about to invade them?

Should they be attempting to shoot down every US jet if they fly over their ships while they are off the coast of California?

It is WAY more complicated than you're making it out to be.  This has also been happening since the Cold War.  Don't get your panties in a bunch.

You're out of your league, Donnie.

Look at all the planes the Russians and their satellites shot down during the Cold War. We were closer to going to war over a tree than a SIGINT plane downed over international waters.

Shooting down a plane in international airspace over nothing more than aggressive flying when hostilities have not been declared is an act of war.
If we had locked them up with our fire control then they would have gained intelligence about that fire control which is what I believe they were trying to do.

You're right, there's not in our class. The options the Russians have are petty saber rattling, and launch the world's largest stockpile of canned sunshine, with very little in the way of a credible intermediate choice between the two extremes for minor escalations.

Fallout 4 was an awesome game and all, but idk if I'm comfortable with doing a real life run without respawns if at all avoidable.

Why?  Swatting a Russian aircraft would serve no real purpose.

Russia knows it's a dying, crumbling, shithole of a country...let them throw away their last few dollars on barrel roles over our reconnaissance aircraft.

Over the years we've annoyed plenty of Russians. Heard plenty of stories. Of CVNs almost running down AGIs, to P-3s and other planes dumping fuel on Russian ships, to ships/subs forcing Russian diesel boats to the surface. And so on.

All part of the game.

Even 20% of either stockpile will make for a very bad day.

That doesn't even take into consideration our sub launched assets.

They screw around with our ships and ADIZ to gather Intel on how we respond and our electronics that pick them up.  If we don't respond, they don't know what we have.  It is chess, not checkers.

sure, then California gets some Russian made reefs.  The difference is that we are in a position to sink their ships - they really can't do too much to us.

Release a public statement with NM "enter at your own risk" areas around all US warshipsere

Equipe warships with special fireworks systems, call them "SOL's"

Think a big fucking flash bang. Altitude detonation setable. Throw in some shit that fucks with radar signals. Like chaff

Fire when they are on a run so that it explodes far enough away to not damage their plane but close enough their airmen get an eye full.

Video

Profit

In order for a carrier to launch and recover aircraft when it's windy the ship turns into the wind. There was a Russian destroyer that was shadowing us preventing us from making the turn into the wind. Since Midway weighed a factor of 20 times more than the destroyer the "law of gross tonnage" dictates that they're suppose to get out of our way. They wouldn't and every time we'd speed up they would. So we took our plane guard and did a little basketball move call the pick-n-roll. Our plane guard which was a little frigate got between us and the Russian and we rolled down wind. The frigate kept the larger destroyer at bay while we made enough distance to turn into the wind and launch. Once the Phantoms and Intruders were up they put on a little airshow for the Russians.

One of our armed helo's hovered off the deck of the Russian destroyer flying backwards with the rotor blades likely not more than 20-30 feet from the bridge of the Russian. The helo was well over the top of the deck of the Russian. This was a distraction for the Russian crew as a pair of F-4 Phantom II's climbed up and out of sight into the clouds +25,000 feet up. The Phantoms then turned and started a dive down towards the Russian. The helicopter broke and flew back towards and then behind Midway seconds before the pair of Phantoms now flying + Mach 1 broke the sound barrier over the Russians. The skipper of Midway passed the word on the 1MC PA system giving us a few seconds warning. A pair of fighters breaking the sound barrier 100 to 200 feet away is louder than anything I've ever heard before or since in my life. It makes a short barrel rifle sound like a pop gun. Tons and tons of energy shaking the Russian ship and crew. Seconds later a pair of armed Intruders flew by the Russians loaded with anti-ship missiles. They flew straight and level just above the wave tops until passing the destroyer where they flipped up and rolled exposing their underbelly and all the weapons to the Russians.

They left us alone after than circus. As ship's video photographer I took video of everything. I wasn't back down in my shop for more than five minutes looking over the footage when the intelligence officer came in and took the video tape.

Back in the 1980's the Russian Bears and Badgers would come out on simulated cruise missile attacks and that made the news. What didn't make the news was that our E-2 Hawkeyes caught the inbound bomber formation +200 miles away (but that's well within their missile range) and vectored our CAP (combat air patrol) to escort the bombers in and out. I had photos taken by our fighter pilots of the Russians and American aircrews clowning with each other. A tail gunner on a Russian aircraft holding up a can of Coke and giving the thumbs up. A pair of F-4's flying with their wingtips almost touching the Russian aircraft. A Russian pilot holding up a sign saying Hi! and giving a thumbs up.

Aircraft know it's suicide to approach within Standard Missile range of one of our warships.

That's bloody FANTASTIC!

"BOO!" for the intelligence officer, though.

That would have been some great footage!
