We've gone from this to not even being able to spank our kids in public.

I think its because society has changed in a way where the quality of living has caused the weakest of us to survive. I kind of see this trend where people usually lived to survive and were forced to earn what they wanted were stronger moral wise.

Take the lifestyle of the united states back in the 1800s and compare it to today. People risked life and limb to be good citizens and survive on what they earn (I believe it made them stronger morally). Unlike today where the mentality is "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you" and how much money the government will give us.

Everything seems to be about greed and laziness: "How much can I NOT do and still skate by?"

Its really saddening, but I think it is something that comes with being a dominant world power. The generations following WWII really didn't have anything else to fear, as countries that were considered threatening to both our way of life and our freedoms didn't really exist anymore. I'm sure you could argue the Cold War was threatening, but there wasn't a mass mobilization nor catastrophic loss of life as we saw with the previous wars. I think this has played a big part in why people are so morally weak these days.

I've actually been kind of researching how got to this point for a long time. It makes one hell of a scholarship paper. Alot of the foundations to how messed up we are can be attributed to FDR's social policies and his administration. but the mindset doesn't really take off until the 1960s..

Sadly.. I dont know how we can get out of this.. It seems to affect each coming generation a little more than the last. The outlook of this looks more and more like Sheeple every day.

The only cure for dysgenics is eugenics.

Get right or get left. America is dying and completely unwilling to fix itself.

You may like to throw the term "sissy" around, but you far prefer to lie in a society where man-on-man pysical strength is meaningless.

I have never had to fight someone physically, to get where I am today. Strongest / best fighter rules went out with the cavemen.

The places where you are less likely to have to deal with a physical confrontation, the more likely you are to find reasonable, pleasant people.

You realy DO NOT want to live in neighborhoods (or prisons, or countries) where being "manly" instead of "being a sissy" is an imporant value.

I think you are romanticizing the past a little... what makes you think people back then would not do "whatever it took" to feed their family, etc? I agree that civilization has changed who gets to survive and pass their genes on to the next generation, though. But, that is/was not necessarily a bad thing... it allowed society to advance beyond the knuckledragger stage.

Heck, my elementary school principal would have two kids who were caught fighting put the gloves on and FIGHT. It was very illuminating to say the least... He'd call the two kids to the gym (no spectators and yes, I made a visit...) and say, "You guys want to fight then we are going to have a fight!" Of course, the public nature of it was humiliating and all and made us realize we really didn't want to fight the other guy so much as prove a point in public or whatever the heck we thought in 4th grade. If we thought... He also paddled kids with full parental approval. Mr Shafer was an interesting guy but I doubt he'd do well in todays educational environment.

I believe we are a nation of sissies because we've redefined what it is to be a man.

Men have been demonized by the women's movements. You can be a strong, commanding woman, but try that as a man and you are labeled an ogre.

Like to protect women and children with deadly force if necessary? You are ridiculed as paranoid and chauvanistic.

Like to treat women with dignity and respect, open doors for them, be kind to them? You are ridiculed as old fashioned and chauvinistic.

Like to provide for your family so that your wife can focus on what she chooses in the community, run the household, and together you can raise a strong family? You are a neanderthal and chauvinist who enslaves his wife.

I'm amazed at how often the message is that violence is never the answer, instead of teaching our young men to stand up for what is right and fight for it, protecting those around you and putting others first.

And why? Don't point the finger at others. Point the finger at ourselves. We have forgotten what true manliness is and failed to stand up to it and put up with the persecution to affect change.

That isn't the point. The point is if kids choose to go into a boxing ring these days it is looked at as barbaric and inhuman.

It has little to do with physical fighting and much to do with a fighting spirit, which is lost when all but hugs and kisses for everyone is shunned by society and competition is frowned upon.

Now we teach our kids to never hit another kid. Run away instead of standing up for yourself like a man.

I'm not really romanticizing the past, I am merely making a comparison on values. If we as a society had the backing to better ourselves and the need to progress (as they did back then) we would have very few issues. But right now people "want" everything, they just dont have the means to earn it like they used to. I'm not suggesting eugenics or anything I am just saying that the laziness mindset would have been eliminated had the magic carrot of socialism not been waved in our face as the only alternative to progression.

I think that there is something to this. It also applies equally to the citizenry as a whole. When communities stopped dealing with the criminal element and the criminal element became protected by the police and the courts, "sissification" increased.

Because as a more advanced society, intellectual power is more important to success than physical strength (civillian sector, at least)...

Fighting to settle a personal difference is uncivilized/illegal/wrong... Rather than proving you are the 'better man', it proves you too dense to come up with a better solution, so you took a swing at your opponent instead...

And we're much better for it...

You do NOT want to live in a society where 'law of the jungle' reigns supreme, anymore than you want to drive on roads where the 'law of gross tonnage' governs traffic flow...

And teaching kids to fight each other OUTSIDE the ring - except in self defense - simply encourages criminality later in life...

Combative sports are another matter entirely - anyone who cries about kids playing contact or combative sports actually IS a pussy... Combative sports foster a competitive spirit & an aggressive mindset required for future success... They also teach the difference between 'on the field' and 'off the field', so to speak...

This whole thing interests me. I am against physical violence for the sake of itself but believe that it has it's use and purpose. I have also sought out and become proficient in the use and practice of the application of physical violence. Call this an oxymoron if you wish but some people must know how to fight to prevent violence from taking place sometimes.

I detest bullies and believe that we allow them to run wild in our schools and work places because we are afraid to discipline them. The sissy issue is an offshoot of the bully issue.

The "tasering" incident that we so often hear about of honest upstanding citizens are usually some white collar bully who runs afoul of the law when he is in a bulling mood. This is bad enough but if he runs into a bully cop all hell can break loose. Look at the last video and you will see all of the signals of "I am gonna beat your ass" that that "good citizen" was giving off.

Our society is polarizing into the far right and far left with no middle ground. It is time that we started getting back to the center and take control of our lives from the bullies and the wimps.

Government finds it easier to govern people who RELY on them to protect and oversee every part of thier lives, thus the reason "pussification" is pushed so hard.
I would like to see a society where you damn well tip your hat when you pass a lady on the street, but we ain't gonna get that back until there are once again repercussions for our youth when they cross a social line in the sand.Instead of fostering more big brother, call the cops cause I'm butthurt or got my butt whooped syndrome.

When I was growing up , there where two situations that would get my a#@ kicked , starting a fight by being stupid , or not finishing a fight that was brought to me.Calling the cops just wasn't an option. If you don't want the man in your life, don't invite him.

We used to box during lunch and recess back in 5th grade. I have the scar on my face to prove it.

ETA: that same year a classmate died from a shot (ND) to the head from a pump-up Crosman pellet rifle. We had a school assembly about it. The topic was how sad it was that this boy messed around with a rifle in an unsafe manner and died. The topic was not about guns being evil and the problem.

Society, coupled with the entertainment industry and the media have demanded that our men become women and our women become men. Unfortunately, America listened.
Men and fathers are portrayed on television shows and commercials as bumbling idiots and women are portrayed as superior in every way.
Queers are being (pardon the expression) shoved down our throats at every turn. I remember when being a queer was UNcool. Now, every show has to have one in it it seems. Hell, even some cartoons and children's shows portray the males as extremely feminine. Folks this is where they'll do the most damage, our kids.
Sex sells. Hell, from what I've seen it sells everything from popcorn to razorblades to damn near everything else under the sun. Kids can't watch t.v. withoput hearing the word sex. Now, I'm as male as it gets and sex is a great thing, but you can overdo anything.
We as a nation have let our children get away from us and they are the ones who will shape the future of this country, good or bad. We have let our children be taken from us. When will we reverse this trend?

Oh, and by the way, men are SUPPOSED to be the warrior class. Rough, strong and wiling to kick ass when it is neccessary. That is the way we are hardwired. That is the way GOD made us, in HIS image, not hers. The Lord is a warrior and His name is the Lord. We were made in his image. Not neccessarily physically, but the true essence.

Not only are the least competent *allowed* to survive through unnatural manipulation of natural selection processes, they are SUBSIDISED to reproduce more of themselves -- via various welfare programs -- while the highest achievers are taxed at a punitive level which discourages having large families.

But one will definitely find that people who are physically fit are more successful in business AND are generally percieved as smarter and of higher character.

People just naturally want to be around, and do business with, physically fit people.
