I really don't know what everyone is so excited about.  Looks like an overdressed AR-15 to me.

The only real diff I can see is the gas piston.  Is there more?

I am not trying to start a bunch of shit here, just really want to know what all the fuss is about.

Thanks,
Eric

it's more accurate....

hopefully, in a few months there will be aftermarket parts so can be made to look like a real sig 55x rather than a tapcoized AR....

Because people buy guns based on looks and not functionality.

Why lock this thread?  I am asking an honest question, and did not want to hijack anyone else's thread?

I think this new rifle is a great alternative to the AR-15

It's a firearm that hasn't been available to the American public since 1989. That's part of the hype.

EVERY new EBR on the market is a good thing.  props to sig for going through the trouble of releasing this to the american market.

now, we need to get steyr to rerelease the AUG....

because it is what the gas piston AR guys have been trying to build.  it is a nice rifle with a match trigger, great accuracy, and basically built like a swiss watch.

You know, I wasnt sure about it when I first saw it, but this is beginning to grow on me:

I think I can find room for this and the FN ARM in my safe

The AR15 is accurate enough...

Now, if it uses a gas piston, that may be a plus...

I just thought I would ask the question since most the others threads are bitching about the AR type stock and thought maybe a conversation about the pro's and con's could happen.  But with you here, it's not likely.
