Everyone knows they exist . . . what does the government have to lose by acknowledging their existance?
Link Posted: 1/6/2003 12:35:43 PM EST
Because it sets the line for any other questions, a line that says no questions will be answered. Example: "Do you have aliens rape underage girls at Area 51?" "There is no Area 51." "Are Delta troops trained to rescue hostages?" "There is no Delta."

Uh-oh. Now they're going to have to hunt you down. Edited to add: Hey, when they get you - make sure that you don't tell them that you knew all of us - okay?

Seriously guys what is Delta? I heard the word operators all through Black Hawk Down. I had no idea we had Telephone operators in the Army. [;D]

I remember reading in BHD, that one of the wives of one of the "operators" that was killed literally thought that's what he did because he kept it secret. Wasn't it the wife of Gordon or Schughart? Navy ROTC Guy

Perhaps if you used the proper name of the unit you wanted to know about, you might get a real answer. Im pretty sure that "Force" has not been used since Vietnam when 1st and 2d Field Force's were deactivated. So the bottom line is that if you ask a question about "Delta Force" you are getting a truthful answer when whoever you asked says "No such unit exists in the US Military" Why dont you run down to the local recruiter and tell him you want to join the "Army of Northern Virginia" or the "Civil Affairs Group" and see what response you get. :-) PSYWAR 1-0 Unofficial ARFCOM OPSEC guy. Edited for Clarity

SFOD-D is a commonly known unit and actively recruits in the open from the regular army. They are also known by their names 'Delta', 'CAG', and 'those guys'.

Becuause if you tell young men they are something special often enough, they will eventually start to believe it.

IIRC, Shughart's wife was the daughter of Col. Charles Beckwith, one of the founders of Delta. The story was that they met at the O club and he tried to tell her that he was a civilian contractor. She immediately raised the bullshit flag and informed him that her dad created his unit.
