Because the US fought against Hitler in the 2nd World War, and FDR met with Stalin at the Yalta conference.
Yes, communism is more harmful and has killed many more people than nazism. But the US government demonized Hitler and not Stalin during WW2. Also, the communists infiltrated the US decades ago, so you have those in academia who indoctrinate our children to believe it. |

20-25 million dead that Hitler is responsible for over the course of 6 years!
Most who died were Nazis killing non-Germans. Had he had more time, Hitler would have far exceeded the communist numbers. Communism has a high kill score because the Chinese had a large population to kill off but it took Communism 70 years to kill 100 million, the vast majority killed by their own government. Both evil philosophies, but it is easy to see why Hitler is the bigger boogeyman. Also, we fought him directly. Commies are a larger threat to their own people. Nazis are a larger threat to neighboring countries. Fighting the Nazis cost nearly 200K American lives in 3.5 years. We lost nearly 100K American lives during the next 45 years fighting the communists almost entirely in Asia, but never the Russians directly/officially. |

Maybe it's because most people are too stupid to know the difference. I tried to explain what Nazi actually stood for to I've of my hack liberal realatives. NS.......... National Socialist...... Their head nearly exploded...... They said that's not true....... Mmmmkay...

Because, while progressives were great admirers of both Stalin and Hitler (and Mussolini for that matter) in the 1910s-1930s, it is much easier for progressives to make themselves enemies of the National Socialists, i.e. Nazis, who opposed communists, which is what progressives are.

Here's the real contemporary answer. Anyone under 30 only knows of "Hitler" or a "NAZI" in the form of an over bearing authority figure on the internet. They don't know what or who those two people / groups REALLY were. They have zero clue. If someone is "oppressing your views on the internet" they are a Nazi and align with the evil forum admin who I'm sure is named Hitler. Don't believe me? ask a fish mouth or problem glasses purple haired millennial who are driving this bull shit. Historically speaking though, We gloated at beating the Germans and it lead to two cluster fuck wars Korea and Vietnam. I'm not sure how old you are but anything Russian from 1950 to 1990 was viewed as pure fucking evil and nobody gave a shit about the Germans or Japanese anymore. This new bull shit is just a by product of a virtually reality driven culture. |

I think part of it is the industrialized, methodical, and well-documented nature of the Nazi killing.
A lot of those communist deaths were famine-induced and more chaotic, drawn out, less personal and because of that more difficult to visualize, though obviously just as horrible in the end. |

First and foremost, a lot more was known about NAZI Germany right back to the end of WWII while the Soviet Union remained steeped in secrecy. Even to this day, Russia does not play well with historians, preferring their own brand of history. NAZI atrocities could be absolutely demonstrated rather than speculated like Russian ones. They don't even know how many people they killed.
This ultimately led to a lack of a million shows, documentaries, and other media on Stalin, unlike Hitler. There has also been a lot of sympathy drummed up for the underdog commie, particularly during and after the Vietnam war. There are other reasons, but those seem to be the main ones. It isn't that people don't know about it, it's that they don't know much about it and simply don't pay it much mind. Hitler, through war and murder, probably got more people killed, and in a much shorter time period (just 6 years). |

as others have said, we liberated Concentration and Death Camps and were able to document the horrors
also Hitler went about the Holocaust on an industrial scale now in regards to the Soviets, Chinese, North Korean, Cambodian, and damn near every other Communist country we weren't able to liberate any camps and suffice to say that while they were killing people either through shooting them, starving them, etc they didn't have gas chambers/crematoriums set up like the Nazis did its sounds fucked up but the Germans had it set up to a science and being good organized Germans they kept records of most of it, the Commies were more messy about and made sure not to document shit |

Because we invaded Germany and freed the people in the concentration camps, and took pictures of it.
1) We saw it first hand 2) It was a "white" European country, and therefore inexorably tied deeply to our own history 3) The Germans made the most efficient human extermination infrastructure known to man Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and others just aren't as closely tied to our history. |
