Many love him dearly. He's got a safe seat, like DiFi, so he can be as big of an ass as he wants to be, and his voters will love him for it...
What you don't understand is that the Kennedy loving Mass types, think the rest of the country is full of uneducated rednecks. A good friends mother is one of these types, and upon meeting her she did nothing but praise New England, and ignored all other parts of the country. She told me I should come visit because there are so many historical attractions in Mass. I told her that I was familiar with historical features, AS I LIVE IN RICHMOND VA! Upon hearing that, she said, "Oh, well I guess you people do have some post civil war interests."  Move along, the kool aid has been consumed, there's nothing you can do for them... |

My wife's idiot uncle will sit in his recluse home in Outer Mongolia, Maine, and bray like a donkey about how "New England has all the educated people" and "New England built the rest of the nation." I'm from MA. Ted Kennedy is disgusting, and I have called his office many times to voice my disdain with him (although difficult, I have always been professional in my calls to the office). His office staff is just as arrogant as Ted.
I have never voted for him, and never will. In most elections, no one runs against him, and when they do, he doesn't even acknowledge them and he still wins (the exception was when Romney, our current Gov. ran against him in the early 90's-came close. I have spent much time thinking about this, and although scary, I think it's 2 things: 1) As a Kennedy he can do no wrong (even murder by him is ok as proven). 2) I really believe he DOES represent a majority of the MA voters (notice I say voters and not people). Don't believe me? Have you read the Boston Globe lately? Check out the op/ed page, and you can bypass the blatently biased reporting (www.boston.com). BTW, I spent 4 years in undergrad studying press bias, so I can see it a mile away and how it works. I am a Republican in this state, and it is painful. Our MA Republican party is in shambles. If you admit to being a republican, especially one that runs for office with an R next to your name, you are literally laughed at. I'm not kidding. Having a Republican gov doesn't help, as nothing can get past the legislature as it is literally 98% Democrats. It is actually painful to live in this state. I could go on and on about how bad it is here, but it would just hurt to much... |

Why do the MASS voters keep electing Ted Kennedy
The same reason they keep electing the "war hero" Kerry, despite his treason during time of war. Gay brothel operator Rep(D) Barny Frank, who claimed he didn't know his young blond boyfriend was running a prostitution ring out of his (Franks) own apartment. Homosexual pedophile Rep(D) Gerry Studs, for whom they held a parade after he admitted and was censured for having sex with an under age house page boy. Rep(D) Marty Meehan, who violated his own term limit pledge, and displays gross stupidity on a daily basis. Rep(D) Joe Kennedy, who has a job for life despite being so stupid he makes Meehan, Studs and Barney Fag look smart. So why do they keep electing these people? They are hopelessly, morally bankrupt idiots who elect people who represent their views. Edited to add: Mass Republicans are not represented by or representative of those I speak. |

There's an inherent and understandable incentive to keep electing a senator with the seniority of Ted Kennedy. Senators are basically ambassadors of their states, and if the Democrats ever come to power again in Congress (godpleaseno) Kennedy is a leader and that translates into good things for the state of MA. Also, it's impossible to talk about Massachusetts politics without immediately thinking of what name?
But he's disgraceful, an idiot, and reflects very poorly on MA's voters. |

You know what's almost as bad? The fucking Mass liberals are moving north to NH and destroying my beloved state
 We used to be one of the most conservative states in the union-fuck, we voted for Buchanon over Bush41 in one of our presidential primaries. The last election went to Kerry. When I bought my home in the late 90s my property taxes were $1600 per year. Last year they were over $4500-mainly due to fucking local school populations exploding with transplants. My heart goes out to any Republican living in MA-talk about being a voice in the wilderness... |

.....I am working on three years of being stationed in Mass........I didnt notice it so much when I lived on Cape Cod for about half a year..........Then I lived on the south shore in Plymouth for a year........the south shore is worse - with a higher population of socialist/liberals..... I recently moved to NH....I love New Hampshire and I would never ever go back........I was raised in Maine so Massachusetts came as quite a shock to me with its laws.
I dont know HOW people continue to live there - I guess if its where your roots are - family,etc......it might be a hard move. It is true that Boston is the center of Massachusetts liberalism...............the farther away your get from Boston and the south shore - the better you are. |

Keep up the good fight! Here in Texas, we were under seige since Reconstruction. having a neutered Governor (the Lt. Governor holds more power) and an historically Democrap Congress. Sure, we had a few Republican Governors but they had been crap until a certain George W. Bush. Then we got concealed carry passed (after Dummycrat Ann "I hope she hasn't gone back to drinking" Richards vetoed it for years. Then the Dummycrats started falling in numbers until they no longer had a majority which caused them to run for the hills instead of fillibustering. Yes, AWOL representatives preventing a majority in the Capitol and stalling redistricting. But we now have a majority in both houses and Democraps are screaming like the outnumbered kids they are. It is just time until the leftist lies cause their extinction. |

Incumbency wins reelection about 90% of the time. Gerrymandered districts make up for the other 10%. It's a political reality and has little to do with the stone brainedness of the voters in the area.

Massachussetts is not really like Maryland. Maryland has a liberal elite but they ride to office on the backs of black voters who make up about 50 percent of the Dem votership in every election. Pure numbers. the citys have alot more population than the towns (read western mass) and as such they decide who gets into office.

What saddens me is I work with several people from Massachusetts who claim to be die-hard conservative Republicans.........yet any conversation with them reveals they are VERY weak on gun rights - and really could care less if anyone can own firearms. They can't understand WHY I just don't settle for a paintball gun or airsoft......
they don't get it........there is a small strong minority in eastern Mass. of real conservatives who grasp the concept of the 2nd Amendment and the RKBA.

Some of you have it right, or at least part of it.
1. To those over 80, JFK was an idol, so Teddy gets their vote across the state. 2. Kennedy is strong on social security and other 'senior' issues. Always has been, and has locked up the 'over 60' voters. 3. Kennedy is strong on minority issues. He's got all the blacks and hispanics locked up. 4. Boston is full of Liberal colleges, so he's got the younger voters fm Boston locked up. 5. Boston as a whole, are either employed by the State, the city of Boston or works for one of the universities, all of which are typically liberal and vote that way to protect their jobs and keep the graft associated with them. 6. The Boston Globe, the only major newspaper in the state, is also strongly liberal, so they support anything and everything that Kennedy stands for, and if he makes mistakes, like killing people, they write the excuses. 7. Although not as strong as the unions in NY, the unions in and around Boston know that they owe their existence to the Gov't money they get and vote that way. (For reference, See the "BIG DIG" and who got the Federal money for this project). Unfortunately, the 30 miles surrounding Boston is the majority of the state's population and therefore, control the vote. Once you get outside of this area, you'll find that most people aren't as liberal and tend to be more conservative and are strongly against Kennedy, however they don't have enough votes to do anything about it. As for Kerry, he is Kennedy's lap-dog. Kerry doesn't support anything unless he gets the OK from uncle Teddy. As long as he remains a follower, he'll get re-elected. ETA: Republicans in MA are similar to "Moderate Democrats" in other states. |
