Forgive my ignorance, but I have noticed that several members have this same avatar. I don't spend much time on arfcom anymore, so I may have missed something. What does the pink ribbon mean?

I don't know. I have seen ribbons for everything from support the troops, to promotion of a jimmy buffet tribute band.
