I just kills me
I get tales from the vet daily and the amount of people who bitch because " I didn't know puppy's need that many shots I cant afford that"
" I think my dog has worms but I only have $10"
Then ya get the ones that never got the dog shots and throws a fit when they find out how much needs to be paid up front for a parvo pup

Wife had a guy today that Got the dog its 1st shots and never came back. Now it and another pup in the house has parvo
Guy starts screaming about he cant afford that kinda money and they need to fix his fucking dog! This ain't right! bla bla bla

Told her she should have told the guy to ask obama to pay for it

Is it just me? or does that shit just piss ya off.

When I got my first dog I didn't have much $$$ but saved until I had enough to cover dog, vet, essentials and extra for anything unforeseen

Back in the day (e.g. Old Yeller) you didn't give your dog shots. You let him live or die according to the circumstances.

Nowadays, I agree with you. It is the reason I don't own a pet: too damned expen$ive when they get sick.

First thing*, though, when I hit the lottery jackpot, is I'm goin' to the pound!

*Second or third, actually. First thing = h&b.

My first dog was a garage sale pup. Was something like $30 and was a total mut, but damn if that mutt only went to the vet once or twice (once was when our first lab grabbed him) and he was always healthy, happy and loyal. Then we got these labs, and holy crap, they are at the vet a couple times a year it seems.

Pedegree dogs FTL.

The first post again.

I give my own shots.

$7 dollars a piece from the farm supply store in town.

Same brands I've seen vets use.

Except rabies. In this state a vet has to give that.

Son's first job was as a kennel worker at a vets office. Part of his job was bagging the dead ones that were put down. Had a story about every other day of some good dog being put down over couple hundred dollar vet bill or maintenance meds that maybe run $35 a month. Only job I allowed him to quit as it took a pretty good emotional toll on him.
