No reason for everyone to hear your conversation about "scoring some bud"

I don’t know but it annoys the hell out of me…

One of my co-workers always does this and I can never make
out what the hell he is saying over the background noise.

Every time he calls or answers the phone he has it on
speaker in the middle of a construction area… and every time I have to tell him
to take it off speaker so I can hear him and not the bulldozer.

I use speakerphone because it's easier to type and mouse if I'm not scrunching the receiver between my head and shoulder. I don't do phone support often enough to warrant the cost of a headset.

I use speakerphone in the car and at home, but not in public. It bugs my wife sometimes, but I'm trying to avoid getting a brain tumor

They figure the NSA is listening in, so why not let everyone else in on the fun?

If you're going to share with one person, make sure you bring enough candy for the whole class right?

Granted, this is Iowa, but I don't know if I can recall the last time I heard anyone in public user speakerphone on their cell.

Never been a fan of speaker phone. Even when I had Nextel, I always turned off the speaker for direct connect conversations.

I had to for a week, because my ear piece speaker stopped working. It was annoying as all hell to deal with.

I do it because I don't like having my phone up to my ear. However, I don't do it when people are around.....I'm too secretive. I know it's nerdy, but I do like some Bluetooth......

I just found out how to use it on my phone a couple of months ago. Total use = 1

Annoying as hell to be around and when I'm talking to someone who is using theirs, I can't hear a damn thing they say. I'll hang up on anyone who doesn't take it off speaker when I ask them to. "What? Huh? Sorry, what was that? Uhh, did you say chicken motor saws? Could you just take me off speaker?"

Same reason people walk around in public listening to music on their phones.

No respect for people around them.

Do you know what I really hate? That my phone from 2005 had a speakerphone feature that I could put it in the middle of a 6-persont table and have 6 people sit around it and have a telecon with another group. It was great for being out in the field at a site and calling in to discuss progress or what we ate for lunch, etc. For the last 5 years, I haven't been able to find a smartphone worth a shit for that feature, the iPhone was one of the worst offenders, you had to point the thing at your face from 6" away to both hear and be heard.  It was like Apple intentionally designed it so you'd have to hold it in such a way that everyone could see you were using an Apple product.

If you are in public and having a conversation on speakerphone, you are a douchebag.

Because of stupid hands free laws... Can't hold the phone up to my head while driving, so it has to be on speakerphone.

I never noticed that. The curiosity I have is the addiction to cell phones. Everywhere I go people are constantly talking to someone or texting.
People just can't be alone with their thoughts.

I'll admit to probably being a little too fond of my phone, but I do try to make it a point to stay off the damn thing when out with my wife. Especially when dining.

It's just sad to see a couple barely interact with one another at a restaurant. Even worse when you see a whole family pecking away at their devices, tearing themselves away only to place their order.

If I'm talking to someone that has put me on speaker, I just start cussing, loudly. Works most of the time.

Cool feature, must use.

If the phone had a feature that blew bubbles when it rang, people would use it.
