Ar's I have(well I did before the accident):
20 HBAR target crowned, free floated for target goodness
20" military profile
16" M4gery
11.5" with prm 5.5" FH XM177clone

Besides the obvious reason of, you only have 4.  Why do I need a Dissipator?

short as a 16" with the long sight radius of the 20.  its the best of both worlds.

The same reason you need to accidently post this in the GD instead of the AR forum you stupid jackass!

I have one, I think it looks nice but I dont like all the added weight of the heavy barrel when its only a 16" barrel so Id much rather have an M4 upper

cause they are so f'ing cool!

I just built a M1S Dissy on a MEGA lower.  and I LIKE IT!

I'm building a .22 dedicated Dissy for my daughter.

and my next two uppers will be Dissy as well.

They provide a nice contrast to my space gun.

how is your ff 20" accuracy compared to the other configs?

I just bought a 20"

Cause after the paperwork goes through, I will have a 22lr silencer.....and I'm thinking that a A2 Dissy with a supressor would look just about like a typical 20" rifle with a bit of a buldge at the end.  With my 22lr conversion in it it would be a pretty sweet looking little quiet as all heck rifle

You need one because you don't have one.

Lets get this straight.

It has NOTHING to do with need!

You simply WANT a dissipator.

You should have one.

See how simple that was?

Possible zombie attack while at work, seems to be the latest reason lately.

because they look really cool with a 12" rail and an aimpoint.

cant you have the barrel re profiled to lose some weight or get bigger muscles to carry it lol.

what is the gas port length on that thing?

I bought one for my son. It's nice but it would way out of balance on a lower with a 6 position stock. You need the A2 stock to go with it. One thing I URGE you to do if you have to have one, have Bushmaster make you one with the fluted barrels. That will take an HBAR and reduce the weight to a more managable weight. If you really want to have a 20" sight picture for your 16" gun, get a .062" National Match front sight poast. Or even a .052" front sight to make it a finer post. You'll like it much better, good front sight with out all the extra weight.

That's why it's called a Dissapator.

Yup...TheRedHorseman is right again! That's the #1 reason. 2nd is the fact that they look mean as $h!t! I got that same upper from Model 1. I KNOW that there are a few that have had a problem with Model 1, and I remember one guy in particular from a few months ago that had numerous probs with them, but I finally got to the range with mine. It fired dead on. You have to have at least one. And when you slap a rail system on there.....SWEET! Anyway...wait a minute...did I say that TheRedHorseman was right...I'm drinking too much...
