Because they already made the best sub compact carry gun.

thick and chunky doesn't not equal a good carry gun

XDS 9 is the perfect slim carry gun.

This. I carried a G27 for a long time and it's not the best carry gun. A G43 or G19 (almost the same size) is much better.

I keep waiting for them to build a Glock 20 and 21 single stack . When they do I will get both.

Try as you will, the glock compact frame is very hard to beat in terms of ccw

G45: single stack carry gun in 45 ACP = awesome

Then they could do the G44 as a .44 mag glock

Corporate intransigence is the main reason they have not adapted to different market demands.

I don't see a point in arguing what gun is best. I'm happy with the fact that we have lots of excellent options. I personally own a G19 and Shield 9. Both very nice and well suited for what they were designed for.

All I know is that the damn carbine better not be a single stack.  Don't be like Hi-point.  Just don't.

Seems to me wimmen folk always get the shit end of the deal.

They were so busy filling orders for men guns they didn't get around to the G42 and G43 until now.

Meanwhile, as reported above, the G36 has been around for over a decade.

The G26 is terrible. Traded it for my G43 as soon as I could and haven't looked back.

The G43 fits my hands better, shoots better and is actually significantly smaller than my G19.

Sure, that's why pretty much everyone I know has one, or a 42.

As I pointed out in another recent thread, this is the sort of discussion where we find out who actually shoots a lot of rounds through their pistols.

The Glocks may not have the best trigger, or be the most accurate, or look cool, but the models that run well are cheap and simple to maintain.

Ease of maintenance, reliability, and accuracy were the deciding factors to go with Glock. Let's be honest, I'll never outshoot my guns - I just won't; so the Glock value is incredibly hard to beat.

I'll admit that I hated my friends G43, because compared to my Shield, I couldn't shoot it for shit. I got the Shield when the G42 came out, and I got sick of waiting on Glock to put out a small single stack 9mm.

I have a shitload more trigger time on my Shield, and can shoot it pretty damn good. My friend can't shoot it for shit. He can shoot that G43 awesome all day, so yes, I think it does come down to trigger time. Before he got a job at a gun store with plenty of range access, I regularly beat him in head to head shooting contests with my 23 vs his 19, despite him having more rounds.

They are both great guns. Personal preference at the end of the day really.

For any of you guys that think a baby Glock like a 27 is too fat to carry....you might want to consider a clipdraw. Yea, a single stack 9mm is slimmer, but I carry my 27 or 33 almost everywhere tucked into my wasteband very comfortably. Though I concede, clip carry isn't for scatterbrains. You always have to be very aware that the trigger can be pulled through your clothing. (ie; scratching an itch without thinking what you're doing can result in the loss of your pecker)

The best carry pistol was made last century by Smith & Wesson, it was named the Chief Special and came in three calibers, 9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP.
Link Posted: 12/20/2016 7:23:11 AM EST
I carry a 26 simply because I wanted more capacity than the single stack I carried for years. The size is slightly larger than the single stack but the ability to use 17, 18 or 19 mags is a plus also. I carried a S&W 642 for many years so the width isn't a problem. Capacity, reputation, cost, accuracy and length of the handgrip is what sold me.

Because Glock isn't innovative and hasn't been since the 80's.

They probably had to bring in people just to do designing.

ETA: I'll support excellent US companies, like S&W. Screw Austria.

I'm guessing because they actually believed their own "muh purfekshun (4.0)" bullshit and thought they would never need to do something different ever again.

Agree. Many fine choices out there. I carry Glocks but there are many others I wouldnt hesitate to own. I still have a M-39 from the '80s that has never once choked on a round.

I dont get the love for the g26/27, I own one, but it stays in the safe. I can carry the g19 just the same, no difference on printing to me. Now when its hot as hell Im carrying my Shield.

I think it just fits some people right.

For me a 19 prints when my 26 doesn't.

A 43 or Shield doesn't make a big enough difference for me to give up 4-5 ends in the gun and 15 rnd reloads.  I can also shoot it much better than the little single stacks.

I view Clipdraw and their users as a self correcting problem...

Why did they take so long?

Simple.

Somebody in Glock sales walked in to Gaston Glock's offfice and showed him a Shield. Told Gaston that S&W was selling a shitload of these in the States.

Glock was busily going over his untold millions in profits at the time and listfully told this sales rep: "I guess ve need to consider making von....zee vhat Engineering says and get back with me vhen I come back from holiday, next year."

Exactly. Glock let all the other companies make what they thought was good then came out and showed them what was actually good and is selling a shit ton of them.

That being said I would carry a 26 if I had one also.
