What are the justification of buy a .45 when a .44Mag DE will hold 8 rounds, have the same reliablility out of the box, has more power, looks cooler, and is just a few inch longer? Just wanted to know.

I don't like the idea about draging around the 4lbs of DE, you almost need a wheelbarrow just to drag that hunk of iron around. The DE is a great gun, but I'm not that much in love to lug it. Get a Para P14-45 if you want to throw lead.

Because it is difficult to carry concealed. It is alot easier to "cover up" my commander. [:D] Milldude

When you run out of bullets, its a whole lot easier to throw your 1911 at the bad guy and hit him.  With the Desert Eagle, you could throw it, but unless he/she is standing right next to you, its not gonna make it to the target.

The 1911 pattern, glock, and sig are proven to be reliable even when abused.  I would have a hard time abusing a $1500 gun.

recoil also. overpenetration. i dont think their is a CCW type DE. look how small some 1911 types can get and hold 10 rds. and the glock G36 is .45 and REALLY small.

I don't think anybody was talking about CC. But if need be I can stuff my DE down my drawers and the ladies think I'm really really glad to see them.  And hey am I a man or a mouse, so what if your talking close to 5 1/2 pounds with a spare mag.  With a good tactical holster you hardly know it's there. Ok maybe I'm not pitching the DE right.

How about this, It's big, nasty, heavy, but damn it's what I think a big, nasty, badass gun should be.  I love my Desert Eagle for all of the above reasons, It's just a big handful of man gun.

Freedom Fighter wanted to know the justifications of buying a .45 over a .44 DE. CCW is MY justification for choosing the 1911 .45 [:D] Milldude

I get your point Milldude.  And I will agree CC is just about out of the question with the DE.  I just thought if he was even considering the DE he couldn't be considering a weapon that could be used for CC.  And if I was going for CC I would have something else.  I bought the DE for the looks, not to keep it hidden.

Ok, here's a selling point.

Would this make someone crap their drawers?

And if looks count, how about this?

With what you'll pay for that DE you can get a 10 round Wilson or Para Ord, neither of which will be like carrying a cinder block on your belt. You can also fit your hand around a .45, I don't see anyone smaller than Paul White getting that done with a .44 mag.

I had a DE .44mag bought it brand new.  P.O.S. never would function right.  Half the time the bolt would not lock up.  Got rid of it, probably never buy another.  If I did it would be a .50AE.

Kind of like saying why buy an ar when you can buy a .50bmg.The de is heavy big and bulky pos.

Nicer looking?!  I think the DE is pretty damn ugly.  The 1911 is by far a much more beautiful gun.  It is a piece of art almost.

M15A2,

Desert Eagle Mark VII, stainless frame, adjustable target sights, 2 magazines, $706, brand new from Dave's Guns, Bad Axe , MI.

I love mine never failed with UMC Copper Jacket Hollow Points.

It is a little heavey as far as pistols go but not that much harder to conceal compared to a 1911.

Depends on where are you going to use the gun. If you are carrying then the DE will be too heavy and bulky.
For the range the 45ACP is cheaper and less punishing to shooting.
Don't get me wrong I have and love my Desert Eagle 44 mag. And I think this is a must for collectors to have. Very cool and mean looking.

..and a hell of alot more accurate than any 1911 I've ever shot.

Ever tried to do a double tap with any mag?

Well a P-14-45 is a better choice because, it can be converted to .45 Super, or better yet .40 Super triton with minor mods, using the same mag for all, holds more rounds and it can punch like or better than a .44 mag. depending on the load!!!

SILVER SURFER

Just don't miss with the first shot and the double tap is a non issue.

...and can you double tap a .45 1911 accurately

If you bottom-line it, I would take my Gold Cup over 10 DE's in a fire fight.  It is more accurate than my Super B with a 10 1/2in tube, never had a missfire or jam in thousands of rounds, and is an extension of my arm, as a pistol should be.  If you want, I'll shoot you first with a .45ACP, then with a .44Mag, and you see if you can tell the difference.

One more thing, of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I must say, the DE is the ugliest pistol ever devised, and John Moses Browning was a master sculptor.

Where are you guys coming up with $1500-1200 for a Desert Eagle?

Read my post above.

I'll sell them to you for $900 all day long.

Ya, it can't shoot faster than a .22 and there aren't as many of them as 1911s, but the .44mag is a fairly versatile cartridge.  I can bust milk jugs at 100yards from a rest and still conceal it under a coat.
