Saw this on the Mathews forum. Luckily the guy wasnt hurt physically. His pride took a hell of beating though.

I dont know where the bowhunter thing came from, but he left his boresighter in the barrel...

Could happen to LOTS of people...  Throwing stones in glass houses or something like that.

I do not believe the barrel would split like that.  I think it was cut and staged.

Myth buster has done a episode on this, and there have been other instances where the barrel was blocked and it doesn't banana peel back like this.

I am a Hunter Education Instructor and we have several barrels that have split like that.  From a mud plug or a wad stuck in the barrel of a shotgun, to ice plugs in rifles I am telling you they can and do split like that. 50,000 to 65,000 pounds per square inch can do a lot of damage.

Yup.   They split along the stress lines in the rifling.

It's the ends, you imbeciles -- they're bent into the form of a recurve bow.
