It was mentioned in another thread that a lot of tea party websites are full of viruses and crappy ads that make ghostery go insane. There are also a lot of financial scams springing from the right. Why is that? Is it the same with the left, but I just don't see it?

They are scammers just like everything else on the internet. There are a lot of assholes out there that pose as tea party bloggers, tea party supporters, Conservatives, 2nd Amendment supports, Ant-Amnesty groups, etc. The list goes on.
What they are actually doing is collecting e-mail addresses and other personal information that they sell. They also sell hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc... They take donations to help travel to protests and other events (and pocket most or even all of the money). I'm not familiar with all the laws but there is some kind of advantage to getting many $5, $20, $50 and all the way up to somewhere around $200 donations as opposed to larger amounts.
These people do this with liberal websites, tin foil hat websites and everything in between as well. They are not just limited to right wing websites (although my understanding is the right wingers are more willing to donate their money to what they perceive as a good cause)
