From the IRS website (http://www.irs.gov/publications/p525/ar02.html#d0e2219)

Bribes.   If you receive a bribe, include it in your income.

So, you'd prefer that criminals be exempt from taxes while law-abiding workers get penalized?

Above intelligence it seems.

it's just so they can throw another charge at you when they bust you for taking bribes (or selling drugs as stated above).

I don't see what the problem is.... I always report my income from illegal drug sales

Yep, found that too:
Illegal income.   Illegal income, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Form 1040, line 21, or on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity.

I think my point is missed here.
Is there a criminal in the world who would report that?  Do drug dealers file a tax return for their "self-employment activities"?

The IRS doesn't make the rules.  Congress does.

Oh and might I mention that a strong argument against illegals and those who hire them (who ought to be put in stocks downtown) is that NO INCOME TAXES ARE BEING PAID ON CASH WAGES TO DAY LABORERS.

YOUR HARD WORK funds the social programs that they benefit from.

Look up Al Capone's history.  The Feds couldn't pin any crimes on him until they got him with tax evasion.

The Feds won't prosecute them for illegally entering the country and they won't prosecute them for tax evasion.  That's two strikes.

Also if you report illegal income label it "Fifth Amendment" otherwise they can prosecute you because you waived your rights against self incrimination. viz., United States v. Sullivan, 274 U.S. 259

Thats good to know.

If I ever illegally obtain a large sum of money I'll make sure to report it.
