I can remember the number of a key I used one time 3 months ago. I remember someone's birthday that was mentioned only in passing as I filled out some paperwork for them. I can recognize someone who I haven't seen in 2 years, never spoke to in my life, and only had seen them in passing one time.

Why is this?

Someone jokingly told me I have Aspergers once. I tend to bounce from hobby to hobby every year or so. When I am on a current hobby I envelop myself completely in it 110% and become a mini-expert on it. Then I move on to the next one

I remember my telephone number from when I was a kid and the phone numbers of several of my grade school friends.

I also retain useless trivia. The only time  I get to use it is if I con somebody into playing me at Trivial Pursuit.

Here too.

Seems like I recall the oddest information.

The other day a friend was telling me the contractors repairing her roof stopped working during the hottest part of the day. " Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun" was my reply. Rudyard Kipling, of course.

Why do I remember such nonsense?

I'm really good with numbers. I can tell you the SSN of my high school girlfriend(about 8 years ago) and 2 of the numbers of the credit cards in my wallet without taking it out of my pocket(not a good thing when you find something you like on the net and can buy it without having to get out your wallet!)

Sounds like me.  WHen I was younger, I had all kinds of silly hobbies that I would spend 100% of my mental energy on.  The big one was astronomy.  I used to write facts about each planet on index cards and then hold them in my hand and think about the enormous wealth of knowledge I was holding.

Then it turned to music (and still is).  But then about a year ago it went to chemistry.  I've had other short-lived fascinations (most of which are still of interest to me) in my life.

I seem to remember numbers well too.  I can remember Avagadro's number (6.0221367x10^23) after only hearing it a few times on a video chemistry class, and when I was 2 I could count backwards from 100.  However, I have a hard time remembering faces/names, unless I spend time with them and talk to them for a few days.  People recognize me all the time, and I don't remember who they are.

Autism runs in my family, and I've been told that I have a lot of symptoms of Asperger's - though nothing major.  One big thing is that I tend to be very introverted.  I just can't get out of that.

Thats me to a "T"

Snowboarding, paintball, car audio, home audio, computers, guns, on-road rc cars, real cars, go karts, golf,  collectibles, models, comics, sports cards, trading card games, guitars, hockey, snorkling, personal training/the gym.....fuck me it never ends.

At least my mainstays are cars, guns, and hockey. I can always count on wanting or needing some form of those three.

I was discussing this today with my dad. Of all the interests and activities I take part in I usually cant stand the other people involved in said activity. I realize its because all those people do is that one activity. Outside of it they have nothing in common with me.

I have or have had my hand in everything and always phase in and out of things. Makes finding decent people to hang out with hard.

I still love being me, everyone I know comes to me for answers or when something breaks. And I have a great ass.

That isn't quite the case.

Pi is irrational; it can't be made from a regular fraction.  It does not repeat, meaning that you never get to a point where it starts over and repeats a pattern over and over again.  If it did, it might look like 3.141591415914159...  but it doesn't.

In fact, since it appears to continue without end, you can find any number sequence in the digits of pi.

I remember the license plate number of my dad's 51' Plymouth station wagon. I think he sold it about 1960.

Right now, I couldn't tell you the plate number of either one of my vehicles.

I work in a grocery store, and I can remember where anything is, what the package looks like, the price within maybe 10 cents, and if we have another case in our inventory.

But if I need to remember the 6 digit order # I will forget it by the time I walk to the back, or if I am interupted.

Yeah, I'm a mini-expert on model railroading, R/C cars and planes, legos (going back a few years) and many other things.  The only passions I've consistenly stayed with over the years are guns and reloading.
