I mean cricket is awesome, You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

Basically the best sport on the earth, and I dare you to disagree you filthy wankers.

If a game involves a stick and you never get to hit anybody with it, then it sucks.

I thought it was just the Brits and it's former colonies that still play this?

I don't understand it, and I hate things that I don't understand.

Got into watching around 2001 or 02. Fell in love with it.

Picked up on the rules and scoring pretty quickly.

Cricket is a pussy "sport". Bullfighting is a manly sport. The Brits and such are all "Ooh, look at me, I'm a bad ass cuz I can fight a cricket..." and the Spaniards just roll their eyes and laugh.

^^This^^ I know nothing about the sport, except every once in a while ESPN will show some stupid highlight. It appears to be big in India and Pakistan so that probably means it's not for me. I wouldn't get your hopes up for having this become a sport in the states. Soccer/Futbol fans are still trying to get this country to embrace that sport and it appears to be going nowhere fast.

Nashville has a hockey team. There's no need for you to debase yourself with lesser sports.

Because you can get multiple runs off each ball, depending on how fast you can run and how good the fielding team is at retrieving the ball and getting back to the wicket. Hitting over the boundary gets you an automatic 6 runs.

Nothing better for me than taking an afternoon off and heading to the local ballpark, grab a beer and a dog, and watch our AAA team play. It's always a fun time.

No thanks. Can't picture ever getting excited over cricket. Not like you do in the bottom of the 9th and your team scores the winning run with 2 outs on the board.

Somebody gets a solid wooden ball wrapped in leather and deliberately throws it at your legs/head at high speeds approaching 100 mph (fastest recorded is 100.23 mph), forcing you to rely on a mixture of luck and skill to still be un-crippled and conscious for the next one.

There's a bit more to it than that, but that's how we played it at school
