I love them.
I have to rescue them from my wifes grandfather all the time. He usually chops them in half with a shovel. I told him to stop, and put them in a 5 gallon bucket and I will take care of them from now on. I always either put them in my yard, or out at my fathers farm. |

I'd take 1000 snakes over 1 spider any day
I couldn't care less about snakes, but if there was a spider, I'd kill it faster than barack says um in a press conference |
|
It's the BIG ones with the diamond on their back that used to freak me out when I was a kid in South Dakota.

I have no idea why some people freak out over it. I can understand if you have a rattlesnake nest right in your vicinity and you have kids, but most snakes people freak out about can only be helpful on your property.
Cool picture in OP, by the way. |

2nd of the year I've seen, brought it home, will set it free in the garden. Like having lots of them around, they keep the baby mice down and are not above chowing down on grasshoppers and such also. The other one was MUCH bigger and far more agressive but as I was driving, I opted for this one. This one is quite calm, didn't even muck when captured. http://i42.tinypic.com/2r6ptud.jpg[/url] Cool pic. |

My folks usually have between 3 and 5 of those little guys in the yard, depending on the season. Unfortunately, the dog likes to hunt them..

|
That's a great pic. I can see a face off between the ARFCom Anteater and the Garter Snake.

Blechht. I hate snakes. I don't kill'em, but, I sure as hell don't pick'em up.
I got no problems with spiders. |
|
Our boy scout troop used to eat them, diamondbacks.
You can about imagine what kind of parents were in charge if they were teaching us kids how to kill, skin and eat snakes. That was 50 years ago. |
|
I'm not "afraid" of them, but after that "vore" link where the guy jammed that living chick into the mouth of that python, I want to kill them just out of spite.

|
Snakes don't bother me so long as they are outside the house/tent/sleeping bag or in the crawlspace while I'm checking the house out.

I hit at least one kingsnake with my mower every year by accident. Had to rescue one from my dogs last year, too. Bugs the heck out of me because they're so good to have around. |

(posting on wife's computer) Damn you! I need another monitor because I shot mine due to that stupid picture! Now the damned dog won't come back into the room with me!

I don't mind non-venomous snakes, but stopped picking up garter and water snakes many many years ago. They squirt that smelly "stuff" on ya.

those things i dont care about
but if its a rattlesnake or something dangerous close to me it dies |

Garter Snake ? I like them. I won't let anyone hurt them if I can help it.

Those little snakes I don't have a problem with, it is the ones with slits for eyes and diamond shaped heads with those two long needle like objects in their mouth that bothers me. Hell, I was cutting a soccer field at a school I used to work at and accidentally hit one of those little guys. I felt bad about it.

I agree, snakes with big round eyes are welcome anytime. Snakes with narrow slits for eyes are dead as soon as I can draw down.
King snakes are particularly welcome because, among other things, they eat poissonous snakes. Hog nose snakes are hilarioius, If you scare them and they can't escape, they roll over on their backs and play dead. If you roll them back over right side up, they'll blow their cover by flipping back on their back because they think you can only play dead on your back. Really shouldn't harrass them like that, but its funny to watch. Brazos_Jack |

Pfft!
Snakes are who got us into this mess in the first place!! Thats why they crawl on their belly. Praise Allah! |

Last snake I saw, I chopped its head off with a 105 canister.
<––-not a fan of creepy crawly/slithery things. |

My poor Mother....
When I was little I thought it was hilarious to chase her around the house with the ones I would catch. She would call for my Dad to do something, but he would often pretend not to hear her. I'm sure he thought it was pretty damn funny, too. |

Whats the actual name for black snakes? I have no idea what they're actually called we just call them black snakes. Here in southern Indiana I've seen them up to 8 or 9 feet, usually smaller. I've mostly seen them on pavement in the summer...driveways, roads, etc...
