Just wondering who here shoots on their own property?  I always wanted to find a place where I can do this, and still be close to civilization somewhat.  Any pics or ranges would be cool for those less fortunate.

I do. Nothing long range, but it beats paying dues somewhere.

I shoot on my own backyard range.  Max distance is 290yds from my back deck when the neighbors aren't home

I do, I just have to drive 17 miles to get there.
(I live in town and have some land out "in the country". )

I live in an apartment.  Does shooting a BB gun at a box in my room count?

I do too.

110 yards from 2 feet inside the back garage to the bullet stop at the tree line.

Have a weekend family place 60 miles outside of town. Shot about 400 rounds on Sunday in the blowing snow.

20 years ago, we could shoot .22's in our townhouse backyard but urban sprawl took our plinking place.

I've got 60 yards from my house to my backstop; I can get a full 100 yards if I shoot from near the road (which I try not to do).

Most likely yes.  Most incorporated areas have restrictions on it, so if the land is in the sticks you'll be fine.

We have 110 acres here in WNC, but I find myself driving the 5 miles it takes to go to the range.  There are better benches there.

Right now I've got 50 yards in the back to shoot on. Later this year I'm opening up a 150 yard track for a firing lane. Just have to drop some tree's and smooth the land some.

yes actually, We live in a fish bowl down here, not to mention the traffic is terrible and the nearest range is across the county from me.

I have 5 acres.  I rarely target shoot because there is a private Fudd type range 2 miles away and a state game area with an unofficial target shooting area two miles the other way.  I do hunt squirrels, deer and rabbits on my property.

A guy I know who is USUALLY pretty smart shot his AR into a stack of phone books against the wall in his apartment... but he lives kinda in the 'hood so he said nobody ever said a word about the shots.  hock.gif

My living room is bigger than my back yard so no. But a good buddy of mine lives in the hills about 30 minutes away, we have a range setup there. I have never payed to shoot......yet, there is a pretty ok range WAY east of me I checked out this weekend.

Although we have 160 acres square, due to lack of suitable backstops & trees, I only have a 400 yard range.

It is good enough for me.

my neighbor does but it gets the rest of the hood in such an uproar that I try to refrain from any larger caliber then a BB gun....

I'm looking at 12 acres now that I'll have plenty of room for a range.

I do.  I have 40 acres of pasture land.  Where I shoot is only about 25 yards, but I plan on setting a backstop at 100 and 300 yards very soon!

50 yards, normally. 100 yards if the wife isn't home and I'm on my back porch. 102 yards if it's cold outside, and I shoot from the kitchen window. Makes brass pickup alot easier.

I don't do it much, though. I'll shoot ALOT more when I have something closer to a proper backstop, and weapon mounted hearing protection.

I live on 10 acres outside of the city limits with an additional 60 acres of vacant land behind my property.  I could shoot on my land, but I don't out of consideration for my neighbors.   Things may change though if my Sheriff approves my suppressors.

I do a little, but I don't really have a great place.  I live on a 6 acre corner lot that is on a hill so uphill shooting is toward a highway and downhill is towards a neighbor.  I'm trying to work out something better.  I'm also concious of the noise so I try too get away from the neighbor's if possible.

I do.  We have 43 acres and it is surronded on 3 sides by about 500 acres of uninhabited land.  My normal range is set up for 25-50 and 100 yards.  I have the option of shooting into my lake levee from my deck which makes for about a 407 yd shot.  I don't do this much.  Mostly stick to my normal, improved range.
