I'm thinking about getting my own body cam.(LEO)  I would like to know what are the better ones to check out.

Taser makes them and their stock jumped up a bunch in the last few weeks.

I have the $100 Scorpion one. It works great.

ETA: not for rolling around with though. Standing gates, checking ID's, working security at a door... that's what I would recommend it for.

Needs to be small enough to not interfere with everyday activity. The regular GoPro's are a little too big I think.

I wear a VieVu (I have no experience with any other body cam.)
I do know we have had some issues with ours. Mostly downloading software issues, I have broken mine a time or two. I'm not sure if any other body cam would have held up under the same circumstances though. They seem pretty tough.

What is your PDs  policy on this? If it's going to be used as evidence you need a secure chain of evidence othewise it's really not going to help you in court.
I really like the idea and my cam has helped me in numerous incidents. That being said I would not wear one without a strict written policy on it's use and the secure storage of the video.

Good point.

And, I just heard that our dept may be issuing them. so I'll save my money and see what they offer first.
