Im in the market for a power programmer/tuner for my Silverado.

Its a 2010 with the 5.3 and the 6 speed auto.

What are your experiences with them and what brands do you prefer or have you heard are decent, and what kind of prices for what you suggest.

Thanks guys.

You deal with them before?

From what Im reading, its a chip that they program for you and your truck personally. Im looking more for a programmer than a chip, as I like the idea of being able to change programs if I need too.

Thanks for the reply.

I saw these a little while back, was wondering about them, reputation, customer service, and if they are just any good.

I bought one of those hypertech programmers years ago, the only thing it was good for was calibrating the speedo.
I ditched it and got a custom tune from Westers. It really woke the truck up.

I own a predator for my Chevy and love it.  HP are nice if you want to spend a lot of bread, but its overkill for most folks.   The Predator is plenty flexible and will probably be far more than you need.

Do yourself a favor and hit the forums on Diablosport and ask some questions, lots of good folks over there.

How does it work? Plug and play, or a computer program that I would have to plug my PC into my OBD2 port and tinker with settings? (Im a dumbass and would certainly mess shit up if that were the case.) If it is a program like this, do they have a good customer service for people like me who may need some instruction?

What does it cost?

me personally? no, but the guys on the gm forums swear by him.

From what I read he is very helpful and treats your truck like his own. Don't buy the tuners with the preloaded tunes, he can write custom depending on what you want and tweak this or that.

you can black box datalog (no laptop) or you can hook up the lap top and log/tune in real time.  they have awesome customer service and are very very helpful as are the professional users on the hptuners support forum.  the most difficult tuning in an n/a app is a tune for a new camshaft but you arent at that point.  if you go one table at a time and read the how to's you will be able to tune the VE, timing, shift points, etc just fine.

the program works by taking advantage of the flash memory system of the ecm's gm, ford, some mazdas, dodge, and others use.   there are three settings: basic, standard, and advanced.  use how you see fit.

the scanner portion is also a very powerful tool.  you can read, measure, log, just about any operation the ecm controls and if theres a table for it, you can probably make it better.  you can customize tables and histograms in the scanner to make it easier.  also, you can copy and paste special which takes out the monotony of doing math for a 20 x 20 grid.

Proud owner of a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4. 5.7L Vortec V8 350 ci. I bought the Hypertech Max Energy in April when i dropped a new GM performance crate motor in my 99 Hoe. After proper break in, i hooked it up and chose a few different settings and woke that sucker up BIGTIME. About 17% better fuel mileage and 28% better throttle response and a very noticeable increase in Horsepower. Best of all, it also reads and clears diagnostic codes when and if your check engine light comes on. Check it out.

Used to sell them for a living and Super Chips is by far the best when it comes to handheld programmed stuff. They pioneered a lot of the tuner software the pros use today and what they advertise is what you get.

I have a Bullydog on my Duramax.  Not really interested in smoking $600 worth of tires though.  It helps a great deal on fuel economy.  I was under the impression that the programmers (at least the "regular" ones) did not do that much for gassers.
