I downloaded the patches for it the day before it hit. I understand it has taken out many Windows 2000 systems.

Firewalls are your friend.

That said, I updated my Win2k boxen
just to be safe.

I dont deal with the servers at my place, but I know the guys that do are running around trying to deal with patches...hopefully they dont get caught up but its too early to know if they will.

I set up a shun at my firewall based on the released signatures...hoping that eliminates the threat before it even gets inside. Between that and email filtering, I dont expect a whole lot of fallout.

I'm actually somewhat thankful for it, it zapped the security servers at work on saturday and I got 19 hours in instead of just 9. makes textbooks that much more affordable

AFAIK Firefox is irrelevent in this case.

Simple NAT firewall will protect most home users and small businesses.

Just ran STINGER to be double sure and updated both windows and Mcafee.

I am good to go.
