With all of the odd names we're seeing today, like Louisville, Rutgers, W. Virginia etc. Mine would be as follows with no ranking consideration involved...just classic programs.

1.Alabama
2.Michigan
3.Notre Dame
4.Penn State.
5.Ohio State
6.Tennessee
7.Nebraska
8.USC
9.Oklahoma
10.UCLA

Beats me, I don't follow football.

Maybe the day crowd might have an opinion?

#6 and #10 should be replaced with Florida State and WVU

(In no particular order):

Oklahoma
USC
Miami (Fla.)
Notre Dame
Alabama
Texas
Nebraska
Tennessee
Ohio State
Florida
Florida State
and LSU perhaps?

Really, if you want the best teams overall though, look no further than the SEC conference. There are always GREAT teams in that conference, while the others are kind of hit or miss each year...

Not that I can find any fault with your logic, but it seems strange not to have at least 1 Florida team in there. Who I would remove?... that's a tough question.. Scratch UCLA and substitute Miami.

I agree with scratching UCLA, it's been 30 years since they were a regular visitor to the top of the Pac-10.  Texas would go in.   Tennessee???

Guess that depends on what 'traditional' means.  Florida wasn't much of a state for college football until the 80s.

Looks like a pretty good list to me.

Might I add a "Roll Tide" just for kicks.

I think it will take till the 08 season to get 18 more wins. 19 less last weeks win.

Still y'all are close as hell to the mark.

Right. Thought the current total was from the beginning of the season.

If only we were talking about Track, which is DOMINATED by Arkansas.

And I hear Alaska Fairbanks completely dominates NCAA rifle shooting; I guess they found a niche for them...

The point I was making is that there are no top ten classic programs in the NCAA Div I men's football. There are old teams with famous histories and glory days. But it is always evolving. You can't limit it to ten teams.
