It's too early for that deep a question

If I don't get tenure, I'm probably going to have one of those moments, wondering why the heck I spent 14 years in academia.

My [peacetime] experiences in the Army had a big effect on who I am, how I relate to people, and how I view the world.

Also, I'm going through another situation right now. Funny that you should ask, actually.

I have a feeling that the next 6 or so months of my life are going to have a big impact on my future.

Fired just before christmas. Former co-worker stole my laptop.
Tried to blackmail me by saying he'd 'find' kiddie porn on it if I reported it stolen.
Boss withheld my last paycheck.

Lost a few people who I thought were good friends when I told them what happened.

Had a nice, quiet christmas with my family. Had a very nice lasagna, the only thing I'd asked for.
Found out who my friends are.

Learned a lot that month.

And, looking back on things in the [semi] longview, it all evens out.
