I've heard that this was uber effective.  Any of you aware of this concoction?

I'm aware, usually mixed in with hot tea, too.  Works very, very well.  Whiskey alone works as long as it's used in moderation.  If you're going to use whiskey for medicinal uses, take it like you would NyQuil or cough syrup, limit yourself to one shot and you'll be fine.  Getting drunk will just make you sicker.  Most hard liquors work for this, but most people find that whiskey works the best for this application.

After two or three, you'll not be concerned in the least about your sore throat .

IMO yes it does help.

I bought my yearly bottle of Rum yesterday...........strictly for medicinal purposes such as colds, sore throats and stomach viruses.

I usually mix 2-3 table spoons in a cup of hot, black tea. Sugar or honey as required.

If you have alot of phlegm or congestion buil tup in your throat, I would just suggest straight Jack Daniels by itself.

For a regular soar throat, the JD and honey is good stuff.

This is the only reason we keep a small bottle of JD around here.

Oh definately, thats the only reason I keep hard alcohol around the house too. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Well, I don't know about whiskey and honey, but lemon juice and honey certainly does.

Ginger brandy is what mom always said to use for sore throats and colds. Mixed with hot tea, it actually did seem to work rather well.

+1 on the hot tea and honey.

Make a scalding syrup out of the two. Sip it down and let it cook the back of your throat.

Pour a small glass of Grand Marnier and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Out of curiousity, does Jaegermeister work for this purpose as well

Absolutely!

Try equal parts of Jack Daniels and honey.

Microwave for 30 seconds, and use tablespoon to drink it warm...

You'll understand why you can't just drink it.

Whiskey works for a sore anything. You should have tried back when you had blood in your stool.

My grandparents and parents gave it on me.  It worked.

IIRC, it was whiskey, lemon and honey.

I got the Jack and honey when I was a kid.  It worked.  And it tasted better than the cough sprays and the like.
