For me, it's a toss-up. Lawyers, computer-consultants who don't know jack, car salesmen, real estate agents would all be in the group of possible winners.

Can't answer that.

However, check the keywords: affirmative action, hot coffee in crotch, cities sueing gun manufacturers.....and some others. Was about to add the joke that ends in "there are things even rats won't do", but I'll behave.

Atleast lawyers are a product of our own society on the governmental level.

For creating money out of nothing, giving it to me, then making me work and sweat to pay it back. For not working one iota  for my property, then taking it back if I fail to pay it off. For trying to get me to accept a cashless society by making it difficult for me to use cash in my business and personal transactions.

Radical-60's-feminazi-lesbian-lawyers who marry smooth-talking-pathological-liar-sex-addicts-who become-President just to get into the White House as an unelected "First Lady" calling all the shots, murdering her enemies and stealing 1000 FBI files on prominent conservatives to then blackmail their way into the Senate and ultimately back into the WhiteHouse as the "World's Smartest Woman" and first female US President.

Politicians are by default whores - they need money to get reelected so they're constantly pandering to the highest bidder.  Unfortunately they're #3 on my list.

#2 would be any of the number of know-it-all Harvard Business School MBAs who in fact don't know jack shit and can't figure out why their co-workers all despise them.

#1 would be lawyers, I've known a couple of good ones but seen enough lie like a bastard in front of a judge to have no respect for the 'profession'.   No wonder so many of them move on to be politicians.  [puke]

Pretty much the Democratic constituencies that set the party agenda:

Lawyers, social workers, government employees, professional race baiters, academics, anyone associated with Hollywood, anyone associated with the media, union hierarchy (as opposed to union members), prison inmates.

Notice the lack of productive members of society in this distinguished group.

Seriously, Kar98, why the lousy attitude about lawyers.

A great many of our Founding Fathers were lawyers, and, as a matter of fact, those who actually wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were lawyers.

So, you don't like the way the law has gone? For every lawyer with a cup of hot scalding coffee, there are 12 jurors who agreed with his assinine arguments.

Just say 'No' to stupid lawsuits. That's all.

Problem gone.

now that i am one, i notice a lot more antipathy towards real estate agents (not all salespersons are realtors.  realtors is a member in NAR.  if you think they suck, call up their local NAR and get 'em busted.  there's a code of ethics to abide.)  but even before i got my license, i never understood the anger.

real estate agents can't do anything without your approval.  if they are, they're violating their fiduciary responsibilities, and most states have statutory laws regarding those.  in other words, real estate agents are REQUIRED BY LAW in most states to behave nicely.  that being said,  you're paying the guy.  if you don't like what you're getting, fire him.  it's that easy.  if you get screwed it's because you let yourself get screwed. bottom line.  yeah, sure the agents are there to help things go a little more smoothly, schmooze with the title agency rep, etc. but i still believe in a buyer beware society.  those who are foolish enough to hand over money to someone without holding them accountable for their actions deserve to get what they get.

Lawyers have a code of ethics, and yet there are ambulance chasers.  Doctors have a a code of ethics and Swear An Oath, but there are still quacks. Politicians swear to preserve and defend the contitution, but screw the country and the constitution at every turn, almost without exception.

Yes, a person needs to be able to take action against all thgese forms of pond scum, but most ordinary people don't know enough about the ins and outs of these specialized professions to know how they are being hosed. That's why they HIRED them in the first place, right?

And try to get a doctor to rat out another doctor's professional mistakes, or a lawyer to accuse another lawyer of professional incompetence or misconduct. Very difficult to do.

This is why they become so hated, they betrayed a trust.

i wasn't aware that there's anything wrong with trying to build your business.  HOW said lawyer does it might be questionable, like literally following the guy on the gurner into the ER, but all businesses must have new customers to survive.

really.  i can think of quite a few "exceptions."  my response to this is that the people voted them in.  you don't like it, vote them out.  help others do the same.

you're right, to a point.  i agree that every profession has its bad apples.  my comments on the realtor thing were meant only to the degree that of all the other professions listed, realtors/agents have the absolute least amount of power to screw the consumer.  in fact, they can only do it IF the consumer lets them.  doctors and lawyers are a bit of a different breed, admitted.

while all of your examples have some level of validity, they still ignore the plain and simple fact that people are letting those bad guys get away with it.  sure, you can't predict and can't stop the first screwing.  but you can avoid repeat business with asshole, can't you?  what's that saying?  "screw me once, shame on you.  screw me twice, shame on me."  you know someone is a loser, don't do business with him.  ultimately, the consumers have to hold the professionals to a higher standard.  if we don't, we're sending the message that we'll tolerate said behavior.

just because you hire somebody for a service doesn't negate your accountability in making sure you CYA.  you and you alone are still responsible for making sure you don't get screwed.  sometimes, despite your best efforts, it still happens.  yet, i'm sure you'll agree, those that take a more proactive role in preventing others from taking advantage of them are far more successful at it than those that assume all people of a profession exhibit professionalism at all, yes?

buyer beware!  won't prevent all problems, but it does help.

Politicians is number one in my book, since they have the most power and are constantly screwing things up for most people by increasing taxes and passing laws which restrict our freedom.
