Romney. Republicans are less likely to stand up to another Republican.

If Obama gets reelected, expect a continuation of his first-term orgasm of Executive Orders.
Number 1 will make every one of us a potential felon with the stroke of a pen.

I'm pleased to see that a majority of ARFCOM now recognizes what a slimeball Newt is.

ETA: Read the poll wrong. People still think Newt is better on guns than Romney?

Out of all of the choices, only one has signed a gun ban bill.

Out of all the choices, only one has ensured the passage of not one but two federal gun control laws.

Out of all the choices, only one has promised "No New Gun Control" and then helped pass new gun control laws less than two years later.

Extra credit if you can guess which one.

That's because it didn't ban any guns that weren't already banned.

Has anyone here ever bothered to read what the law actually did?

If you are taking a cheap-shot at Romney, you need to know you are not in very good company... The NRA would disagree with you... NRA: Romney expanded gun-rights as Governor.

You need to look at the actual voting record of folks... Romney's NRA-endorsed *expansion* of gun-rights as Governor cannot compete in the least-bit with Gingrich's overwhelmingly destructive support for the anti-gun "Gun free zone" bill, and his anti-gun stance he took with his "Lautenberg Gun Ban" Amendment... Nobody on the stage right now can compete with Gingrich for King-Gun-Grabber.

Yeah, Romney has *said* some ill-concieved about Guns. It is good to see he has clarified his pro-gun stance... But when it came time for the rubber to meet the road, you can see in plain-English at the NRA webside that he *expanded* gun rights as Governor.

Gingrich, on the other hand... Has *two* count-'em TWO gun-bans in place... Romney, even with his previous ill-concieved statements cannot compete with that...

This election is *not* about guns... It is about who is the free-market fiscal conservative who can beat Obama... But even with that hanging over all the candidate's heads, Romney has still clarified his pro-gun stance, and has stated time and time again that he will not impose any regulations on gun owners... That is good to hear, even with the knowledge that this election is about who is the free-market fiscal cosnervative who can beat Obama...

This is what I'm seeing you guys not "get"

Obama can do a lot, but there are limits to how far HE can go with executive orders, especially stuck with the taint of F&F. And gun control proposed by Obama and the Dems will be vigorously opposed by the R's in Congress.

But you take ROMNEY + THE RINO'S in the Senate and House + Dedicated Gun Grabber Democrats + the "Team Player" GOP guys who will go along with Romney to get along and avoid rocking the boat, and you wind up with something the media will spin as "Bi-Partisan Consensus On Gun Control"

This is a theory I have been pondering lately. Obama is a hated liberal, hated by all conservatives. Romney is hated by a lot, but not all.

That being said, I feel anything that Obama endorses or draws up or whatever, will get shot down because it's an "Obama related bill".

Whereas, any gun bill that has Romney's support or has its foundations "laid out" by Romney is more likely to be passed because many will simply bow to pressure to vote party line, it will be viewed as a Republican success, something they will want. The terms "common sense", "common ground" and "unusual lethality" will be used as well as "need" and "sensible".

I feel Romney is a greater threat to our 2A because he will work from within the walls.

The federal law sunseted. The day after it did, the law he signed banned guns that weren't.

What you wrote there... According to the law... In plain-English is patently false. It is a falsehood from *any* measureable angle.

In plain-English, you can read the law and it clearly-and-openly *expanded* gun rights for MA residents...

Read the NRA analysis of the law here: Link

From the NRA analysis they address the very falsehood you put forward in your post...

"Myth: The gun ban was extended.

Fact: Our state`s gun ban was not due to disappear, nor will it become invalid if the federal ban sunsets in September. "
NRA -http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2004/6/massachusetts-firearms-reform-bill-se.aspx?s=Romney Firearms Reform Bill&st=&ps=

How guys can believe such nonsense is beyond me. Stick to the facts. Read the law for yourself on the NRA website... It *expanded* gun rights...

I don't think a Democrat can do any real damage to the 2nd amendment (that they have not already done).
A republican however, dedicated to socialized healthcare and the destruction of all rights....

Is this what most libertarians believe or is this democrat libertarian? "A Republican administration would be our biggest enemy?" really? which Republican President signed federal firearms law even with DNC control of Congress? Which Democrat? History suggests ...... what?

Republicans won't read the bill too? no kidding. lol. When did they do that? Romney or Santorum will give the insider to brady bunch lib bloomberg lawyers just like obama instead of NRA hotshots like he did in Ma. maybe? idk
