I have a desktop with Windows XP. Gonna buy a laptop. Would you buy a chromebook or windows 8.1 and why? Thanks

Chromebook? No thanks. Can't ever be offline.  Price is nice, but that's it, no real programs, all cloud based apps.

Win 8.1 easy, for just a little more you get a real computer.
