If you woke up tomorrow and the Spousal unit said that it is her or the guns, which would you choose?

I'm not married so I can't say anything that is founded...
I WOULDN'T MARRY A WOMAN WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND MY OBSESSION.
Looking for one who is more obsessed than me with it...
Maybe one who is a better shot

if your wife said that say I'm keeping them... they don't set pompous rules for me to follow

Yep. Kick the bitch to the curb.

Any woman that makes an ultimatum like that is not worth living with.

Thats like you going up to her, and saying "ok beeotch, its me or the shoes and mountians of cloths you never wear..."

+1 tough choice though.

It took me a long time to find this keeper and she is very cool with all the time I spend at the range, reloading and hunting etc. She rather see me doing these things then playing golf and getting drunk at the 19th hole or bar-hopping with my mid-life crisis friends. When I'm shooting, I'm not drinking and I'm not pretending to be doing something that I'm not.

recent conversation with the Mrs.

"Do you have enough ammo for all of your guns?"

I don't think I'm going to have to worry about your situational inquiry.

BTW my answer of course was "well I have some, but I think I better get more, and I better start thinking about a couple more guns and better pick up some AR lowers."

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the guns. Then when you get the guns, then you get the womenz.

AMF.  Guns are non-negotiable for me.  My girlfriend knew that when we started dating.   She has grumbled about the quantity, but she is shooting w/ me on a regular basis.  After our encounter on vacation this year I think she understands the defensive portion of *WHY* I have and practice w/ them.

Been married twice and the guns didn't seem to be a problem for the first wife, but after we were married, my second wife suddenly developed a problem with them. I don't miss her insane, psycopathic and truely just mentally unstable ass one tiny bit. Just sorry I ever fell for her line of BS and stuck it out for 16 months.

Like one of the other guys said, I'm looking for a woman more gun obsessed than I am.

(And, it's so unfortunate that Bell is a crazy Scientologist.)

Thank God I'll never be put in such a situation but, Internet Machismo aside, my sincere condolences to any married man here who answers otherwise (or my condolences to their spouses).

You'd live under a woman that made such stipulations? It's not being macho. It's common sense. Any woman that forces you to give up something you're passionate about or a legal and safe hobby that makes you safer isn't any woman you should stick with in the first place.

This is some type of hypothetical question that the OP made , that's the way I took it at least. not some whim your wife decided one day out of the blue. I would melt and burn all that I own not just my guns for my wife and my family to be together.

The problem here is not the decision, it's that she is making the ultimatum.  I don't care (much) if my partner is into shooting.  She doesn't have to like them, shoot them, or know what I have.  She does have to tolerate my passions in life.  She has to care about me.  If she makes this ultimatum she obviously has no concern about what makes me happy, so she can make her ultimatums to someone else.  I've been the abusive spouse route & will never again tolerate that BS.

I can't imagine being married to a woman who would make me choose between her and a friggin' TOOL.

If it was the case, then I'd be better off without her. It's not about LOVE vs. GUNS. Cause LOVE wins in that contest every time. But I just couldn't really love a woman who was that wacked in the head. My wife is a bit "eclectic" about guns. She likes to go shooting once in a great while. But she doesn't like them loaded in the house. I tell her that they're going to stay loaded in the house because an unloaded gun might as well be a friggin "thtapler". She accepts my reasoning and just lives with it. There may come a day when she's grateful that I keep loaded guns in the house...

I understand that attitude, but I think what people have been through matters here.  In much the same way I figure I will never hit a lady, but a lady will never hit me, a reasonable partner would never demand I give up a major portion of my life which causes no problems for my family. Make more time for her.  Sure!  Put them on the back burner indefinitely. Sure!  I can handle not going shooting for a year & leaving (most of) the guns locked in the safe.  I couldn't handle an arbitrary demand to give up something I have been collecting for decades.  I would *NOT* give up the guns which belonged to my father, grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.  It is completely and utterly unreasonable, and a woman who would make that demand is not the woman I am going to spend my life with.

First find a woman that will never present that ultimatum to you. Let her know who you are and what your passions are.

It will never be a problem after that!

A little off topic, but I actually know a guy that has his guns for sale.  He has a wife and kids but his MOM told him he shouldn't have guns in his house with the kids around so he is selling them hock.gif

Oh well, I got a great deal on all his reloading equipment
