Having many (4 or more) AR's that are all generic A2 types no rail system or having just a few higher end AR's with railed forends and high end optics.

ahhh the old quality vs quantity dilemma.

All I have is A2's.

One with a 51C mount.

I would go quantity because of the KISS principle.

All my AR's are 20" A2 models.I do have one with an IR laser on it.

K.I.S.S. is my motto.YMMV

Go with the generic A2's.  That way you can form and train your own squad and the weapons will be immediately interchangeable without fear of unfamiliarity..

I dunno about you guys but I can only shoot one at a time.

Why bother with a ton of the same? Variety is the spice of life.

I have my acurate AR, my Tricker out and a KISS gun. What else do I need? Of course, I'm not really a collector. I buy guns to fill a niche.

Eh, I'd go for the straight A2s. I shoot 'em just fine, and KISS is always good advice.

Duh, get both.  They both have their place and purpose.  Instead of deciding between 2 outfitted ones or 4 plain ones, get two plain ones and 1 with the rails and accessories.

For your cheap ass friends to shoot!

I enjoy shooting with friends so having an extra rifle makes for more fun. Plus in a SHTF, TETOWAWKI, or Zombie invasion they will come in handy if your friends have shitty guns.

I have no use for more than one rifle of the same type.  Quality all the way.

That only applies to women.

Somewhere in between.  I have quite a few and I consider them to be high quality.  Some are A2s, some are A4s, some 5.56, some are 7.62 NATO.  I also have bolt guns in .308, .30-06, and .50 BMG.

One Or 2 Tricked out one(s) for myself and many KISS ones to arm a small Army. Don't forget the Bulk magazines by the 1000 unit Box.

I can't answer that as I'm addicted to AR's and have 11 different ones ranging from KISS to COOL. And most everything in between.

Well see here's the thing. Most of you guys punch paper with your AR's or otherwise just shoot at the range. That's fine; It is just not my thing.

I like to DO things with mine so I don't see any reason to own a bunch of paper punchers.

VTHOKIESHOOTER: If you want my opinion. Get your couple of nice Ar's the way you like them. Then spend money on something else. Get a nice over under for bird season or clays. etc. I think you know what I mean.

Do you have a Yobo Guide Gun yet?

I reject the premise that expensive or "high end" means "quality". It's perfectly reasonable to suggest that you could own 8 A2 rifles that had the same accuracy, reliability, fit and finish as 4 decked out railed/accessorized models.

I think rail, optics and tacticool stuff will be around a long time. The rifle itself, maybe not.

Buy guns.

Hell I like them all.  I have one that is pretty much KISS but with an EOTech and a BUIS, one that is in different stages of disaray that will have an ACOG mounted on it and another is in the pipeline that will probably be a cheap KISS.

Justed wanted to see how the membership voted.  Not surpised at all that it is running 50/50.

I doubt that a generic A2 upper could outperform a Novenski or White Oak barrel with a free floated forend.

+1 BTDT

Let you know in about a month on that one, suspect you are spot on.

Now a Quality DCM rifle with a experienced shooter could come close I bet.

We could do a thread on the power factor of Wolf ammo, I still have the pics.

Prolly a Ban or two there.

I'd prefer a nice number of good AR's that don't cost an arm and a leg.  It'd be easier to have more than fewer if SHTF, especially for passing out some to family.

I laughed my ass off that day.  Brad86 gave us the "y'all aren't right look" but after the first wolf thread that is funny, I don't care who you are.

i vote quality over quantity............

that isn't to say, that a good quality, KISS rifle doesn't fit in that category btw.

but it is nice to have at least one triced out gun.

Wow, this is a pretty close poll. For me, I don't care how many of something I have if I have to sacrifice quality or my happiness with any of them. I like things like lights and an EOthingy and whatever else I wanna slap on there.
