By definition, chili does not require beans.
I like beans in my chili on occasion. I also like fritos in my chili on occasion. That doesn't mean fritos are required for chili. |

on a side note
chicken (poultry in general) does not a sausage make.... |

Is tofu or TVP actually cheaper than low grade cuts of meat where you are? On a side note, how about folks post their favorite chili recipes? |

I use to call it a soup-sauce in my sig but I wanted room to bash Doctor Who on his "no gun" stance and quote Sherlock too (or rather Watson since it's his line). |

Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that at least 5 people voted not to put chili peppers in chili?

Question to the OP:
If a chili is already thick enough to stand a wooden spoon in (without beans, flour, maze, tomato paste, etc, etc), what purpose does adding beans serve?

Everybody who has ever tried it has asked for the recipe or an invite for me to teach them next time I make it. Homemade chicken sausages are as different from store bought as real chili is from canned chili with beans. |

Question to the OP: Beans taste good? Also gives you more chili if you're poor. Beans are flavorless on their own. They take on the flavors of whatever they are cooked with. And yes, they are a stretcher used by the poor to make a pot of chili go farther. |
